To be fair more often than not he kicks those. It's almost his speciality and gets it 9 times out of 10. I'll back him to take it on himself again when the opportunity presents itself.
Sorry, I'm going to disagree. I don't think he gets them 9 out of 10 at all. He is 50/50 at best on those.

Essendon supportes truly disgraceful today....

Lost fair and square, just re-watching the game now and umps did not **** them. In fact they got a few goals from some absolute pearlers....

Maybe they should look at the disposal efficiency of their major ball winners to find out where it all went wrong...

Great game tho - essendon brought the heat and werent pushovers.

Again, winning messy beats the shit out of losing.

Thought Pendlebury was simply wonderful, Grundy was excellent - and Jeremy Howe had his best game of the season. Jack Crisp was good, and Taylor Adams defensive work around the contest was first class.

On the flip side, Dayne Beams is nowhere at the moment, looks very slow & pretty unfit. Callum Brown/Josh Thomas can't play in the same side, and Travis Varcoe/Levi Greenwood both had little-to-no impact on the contest.

Plenty to work on. But pleased to do so being 4-2.
At the moment I'd take brown over Thomas and levi is useless unless he is tagging someone. Almost Levi's worse game for us today and JT has looked off the pace so far this season.

I think Brown showed lots today and last week, love the way he plays and takes it on.

For 2 and a half qtrs Essendon were the better team, i think us just winning is generous result.
I don’t really agree with that.

They would have pinched it, if we didn’t complete the game. Overall I thought we were better but not in execution of opportunity.

To me it’s always simple: get the ball, use it well... rinse repeat.
We didn’t execute as well as we could have.

But we won. That counts.
We move on to Marvel stadium now.

What game did you watch hahaha, the umpires clearly favoured us.
To be fair it went both ways. Enough to debate them would say we didn’t have the run of the green. In fact apart from the last minute the umpires incorrect decisions or non-calls resulted in more direct goals for Essendon.

We could of won by around 5 Goals IF we Kicked Straight
Yes that sounds about right.

I just kept thinking at the ground, we’re 15 points in front, then 9 points or whatever.

Was only really late that they crept to within a goal.

Callum should have iced his last closer shot by the way.

But we got there.

Mihocek? Tagged?

I think his opposite number just paid him close attention, as a defender should, and he had a down day.
I don't think our style for most of the day was ideal for talls either. Mihochek has been good this year hopefully he can bounce back next week strong.

Nothing wrong with being hungry, it's what made KB such an iconic player.
That’s correct.

Hard to believe but Kevin Bartlett had 10 kicks and 1 handball out of 11 possessions on average.

He believed in kicking as best weapon.

Great elite player. And killed them in finals games.

Collingwood (VFL), Man Utd.
I recall the Brisbane Bears (I think them) did something like that.
So it got outlawed.

35Daicos is our genius at such things and historical accuracy.
But recall some peculiar behaviour like the shoulder sitting, so got outlawed.
This thread probably has the answers, and mentions Brisbane trying a dubious move against the Bulldogs a few years back, with Beasley having a shot after the siren: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/standing-on-the-mark-double-team.851555/

This is from 2019 Laws of Australian Football:

19. DISPOSAL AFTER MARK OR FREE KICK
19.1 STANDING THE MARK AND THE PROTECTED AREA
19.1.1 Standing The Mark
When a Player is awarded a Mark or Free Kick, one Player from the opposing
Team may:
(a) stand on The Mark;

(b) move along a lateral line without advancing beyond The Mark; or
(c) otherwise be directed by a field Umpire.
For the avoidance of doubt, all other Players from the opposing Team must
be positioned behind The Mark or otherwise outside the Protected Area
defined in Law 19.1.2.

This is the incident from the Brisbane vs. Footscray game (it's not easy to see with all the people on the ground!):

This is from the laws of the game:

16. DISPOSAL FROM MARK OR FREE KICK
16.1 STANDING THE MARK AND TEN-METRE PROTECTED AREA
16.1.1 Standing the Mark
When a Player is awarded a Mark or Free Kick or is Kicking into play
after a Behind has been scored, one Player from the opposing Team
may stand at the position on the Playing Surface where the Mark or
Free Kick was awarded or where the field Umpire otherwise directs
the Player to stand.
The position on the Playing Surface where the
opposing Player stands is known as “the mark”.

Ha ha, I just had this strong remembrance of bears being the team.

Thanks 35D.

Add fuel to the fire, just watched replay (was at the game) and i’ll Admit Stevo did put the ball to the ground before Browny got the free. Benefit of the doubt is no prior and absolutely plenty of other non frees given throughout the game. Worst i’ve seen umpiring this year.
