Well done, lads. Tough one to take as a Dons supporter but what a spectacle our two teams showcased today. Hope we make finals and get another crack at you - if not, see you in round 23. Good luck for the remainder of the year :thumbsu:

We were lucky and got away with more free kicks than the bombers. But as usual they got a couple right in front of goal.
They also kicked 3 rippers to keep them in touch but gee the red time goal conundrum is an epidemic.
Great contest and the errors were due to pressure. Shiel got punished by the commentators but we have some punishers of the ball ourselves.
Pendlebury what a star I thought he was cooked but stood up immensely.

Sorry for the intrusion guys.

Just had to comment on Bucks comments directed to the low lives that booed Pendlebury at the end of the game.

Absolutely first class effort from your coach
Class act SD.

Full praise for your bombers who threw everything at us and just fell short.

As for those so called football supporters - in the old days they would have been dragged behind the stands and thrashed senseless - by both sets of fans and the cops would have turned their backs.

Dunno why the criticism of Brown.. nippy as all f today. Didn't really see him do much wrong except execute a coupla goals.
He missed 3 very easy goals and didn't make the distance on a 4th, accumulation isn't the problem, it's composure! and he can't kick over a jam tin.

Should be rapped the bloke has put himself in positions to score.
He was good, but 'putting himself in the positions to score' unfortunately isn't enough anymore if he's not converting them. Elliot will also put himself there and will also convert.

Another game in which we won ugly after a promising start. We could have been overrun but....... we weren't. We had a lot of passengers and still won. Well done boys.

Poor umpiring affected both sides.

Pendles was brilliant 38 possessions, 16 contested, 7 marks; 3 clearances, 6 tackles, 4 I50's, as was Grundy with 24 possessions; 16 contested; 6 marks, 3 clearances, 6 tackles, 2 I50's, 39 HO's and a couple of brain fades. Crisp and Adams hardly put a foot wrong.

We do not have a great midfield. Yes we have good midfielders however, they hardly play well or consistently at the same time. They looked slow.
Clearances -11;
Stoppages -8;
Centre -4;

2.10 from set shots.

Brown for the good things he does is let down by his poor kicking, which lacks any penetration. He kicked 0.3 with all his shots within 30-35m and basically directly in front.

Beams looked slow and his disposal was poor. Was he injured?. Varcoe was poor. He had one kick after QT and finished with 4 for the game which included two direct turnovers. Mihocek, other than his goal in the 1st Q, was unsighted. Thomas and Stevo had another poor game
Great post.

Thought umps did a pretty good job, made mistakes either way, Bombers just capitalized on those that went their way.
Thought they were consistent all day and tended to let things go rather than pay everything. Probably made a few blues late but it didn’t influence the result.

You know what? I am bloody delighted with that win!

Don't care we played average, don't care we couldn't kick a goal to save our lives.

We won. Beat Essendon on Anzac day. By under a goal. If you can't enjoy that maybe stop following sport!

As I have said many times, before the last 8 rounds all that matters are wins!

It's good to see us win a couple of close games where things aren't going our way. It shows some maturity that may prove to be crucial later in the year. Last year if we weren't able to play our game plan we lost. That's no longer the case.

All teams are struggling for consistency right now. All that matters is the 4 points!

Go the mighty magpies! Look forward to watching it again tomorrow!

What did Bucks say, I couldn't hear him?
To all those supporters booing a champion (Pendles), shame on you!

He then went on to redirect attention to the actual reason for playing on the day, and away from the obnoxious, cringeworthy fans trying to drown out the speeches with their boorish behavior.

LOL I love this one. They only failed to influence the result by screwing up relatively equitably.

Lots of relief in people's comments over our narrow and lucky win, but I would like to see a little more analysis of our strengths and weaknesses. Essendon are not regarded as a great side, though we certainly allowed them to look good today. Perhaps they are genuine contenders, hence no need to assess the worth of our own players. Essendon sure had some good players today, mainly players with pace and strength who we had problems containing. Daniher made Moore earn his money.

He had a shot from around about the 50 when was it.. 2nd or 3rd.. and almost hit the back fence.

20 games into his career.. some of the shit disposal I have seen over the yrs from inexperienced players with less than 20 and high draft picks.. God the list is huge..

Mate.. even Buckley used to spray the shit out of em in his first yr at Brisbane. Standard shit re.. very rare you get players step in and just lace it up like Gods after 20 odd games.. plenty of grubber sprays ridiculous shots for goal etc.. as long as he's getting in the right spots and doing some nice things.. we should be rapped.

So happy with him.

If you lined up every Bomber supporter who was at the game and ask them if the booed Pendlebury, I reckon they would all deny it was them. They are pathetic.
As soon as they left the ground they went back to their boring lives. Long may their premiership drought continue.

Who says they are not a great side? Most pundits have them top eight and possibly top four.

It’s a good win against a good team.
