Autopsy Post Mortem vs Essendon

How would any player reach their potential under this set up?

As someone mentioned earlier, our best performed player (Howe) is used to playing in a shit side. Not a knock on him but he's finding it easier to adjust.

He was woeful today. I'm sure the coaching staff are telling him what he needs to do on game day. He may not have the feel for the game at senior level?
I'd like to see him play deep in the forward line and not go past 50m.
If teams run off him and turn it over then we would need to capitalise with a quick kick forward. He needs to keep a good defender accountable and that's not happening.
And why do we kick it to his feet? That's frustrating!
Cox can't play deep... he can't play anywhere!!!!!
His hands, they're like those giant floppy foam hands that you can buy at the one-day cricket!
He can't catch anything.
Please, Collingwood, show the man some mercy and respect his dignity. Only ever play him as a ruck if/when Grundy is injured.

Agreed i think it's more a recruitment issue than Buckley tbh.

IMO Collingwood have chased too many mids, and not enough forwards/defenders...hence the strong midfield delivering plenty of I50 but not enough conversions and also the defence coughs up some easy goals with poor turnovers.

The forwards that HAVE been recruited in White & Mayne haven't delivered. Howe is playing back. Get another quality tall to help Moore and results might be different.

Defender recruited in Dunn isn't playing in the 1's. Question marks over Goldsack, Phillips, Maynard etc still. Again, i think replace 1 or 2 of them with quality rebounding defenders and it would change things a lot.

Also, it doesn't seem Collingwood have drafted enough kids in the last 4-5 years who are making major positive contributions to the team, as opposed to a team like Bulldogs who are getting good value out of some kids.
This.
Well said.

Just got home from the game and whilst I'm a but deflated about losing on ANZAC day, I can't say I'm surprised. I went into the game expecting what I got. Just continuing the trend of playing just okay, having momentum and not being able to capitalise but then not being unable to stem the flow when the momentum is against us.

This game was almost a carbon copy of the Dogs game. Slow start, fight back, hit the lead, stop, concede a few goals that ultimately ends up being the final margin, and break even for the rest of the game.

I just don't even know what to suggest. Buckley cops shit for bringing in Mason Cox (which did make me scratch my head a little), but if he doesn't pick Cox then he cops shit for not providing support for Darcy Moore so he really can't win.

It's getting desperate now though for Bucks. We're in a business where it's about winning, and 1-4 doesn't help his case whatsoever. Gallant losses (not that all of our losses have been gallant) or even close loses only goes so far. We've lost 4 games by 14, 19, 14 and 18, so we're obviously playing some sort of football that's getting us into positions where we can give ourselves a sniff of a win, but there's always something bleeding obvious hampering us from doing so. Round 1 it was execution going inside 50, Round 2 it was goal kicking, Round 4 I can't really say because I didn't see the game, and today it was goal kicking again. I will give Bucks a nod for one thing, at least he tried something to change the game. Reid going forward didn't really work the way we would've liked, but at least he tried.

On a side note, Treloar, Crisp, Elliott, Howe and Wells can all hold their heads up in my eyes. Alex Fasolo needs to have a good hard look at himself. Also, I know they're young and inexperienced, but Ramsay and Schade one out looked very ordinary at times.

Anywho, not even mad. The season is pretty much a write off now, just gunna have to chip away and hopefully develop.

Balanced, thanks for that.

Sorry mate but that's not why we lost. We press forward, we retain the ball, we get multiple entries into our forward line. Problem is that our forward line is congested and we turn it over. The opposition then scores easy goals. Every team knows how to play us.
That's coaching and is the reason why Bucks is not successful

1 goal 8 from getable I50 set shots says different.

Cox in.... we deserved to lose.
How many more ruddy times....?....
A SPARE RUCK THAT IS A USELESS FORWARD NEVER BLOODY WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |:(

I'm friggen sick of this Irish/Canadian/US experiment just to market our game overseas.

Enough is enough. Please

I forgot one other positive.

I won my Supercoach cashy, though Pendles & WHE made it far closer than it should've been.

I hope this doesn't come off as condescending but I don't think you've been too far off this year, and you certainly weren't too far off today. You missed some relatively easy shots for goal, especially late in the third when you had all the momentum and that was costly. And there were times you had us opened up in the middle and simply just failed to hit up targets on transition. You hit even half of those targets and we're in some serious trouble.

Fantastic to see Elliott back on the park, Moore needs some help but he's going to be a super player for you, Wells threatened to tear us apart on occasions and he'll only get better the more match fitness you put into him, Treloar is a genuine superstar. Not all doom and gloom - I think anyone that comes up against Collingwood is still going to have their work cut out for them. You're just lacking a bit of polish at times.

The sad thing thing about this is that I watch us play with zero care factor at the moment. I fully expected to get rolled today and now that it's happened, I really don't give a shit. It used to take me days to recover from watching us lose. Now, I'm just worried about what's for dinner. I really hope that someone puts Buckley out of his misery soon, so we can all move on and enjoy watching us play again
That about sums it up for me too.

How much did we win by. With all those great games we must have smashed em?

Dillusional.
Doesn't take much to lose games, we are slightly off connecting and converting in the forward line. If we kicked close to our ability (citing back end of last year) even with glaringly obvious issues with the way we are playing we'd be 5-0 or 4-1

+1 He needs to stay deep, lets face it he is only in the side because he is tall, I'm ok with him in the side as a second ruck but don't lumber around and drop marks at CHF for the turnover. Stay in the square, take the defender out, straighten us up, be there for the get out option, create space in the zone....

Autopsy time? Well, in that case...

"The subject appears to be a football club, although it is hard to tell due to the state of decomposition. Approximately 125 years of age. Well nourished, indeed a little overfed if anything. No external signs of obvious trauma, nothing to indicate cause of death. Yes, give me the scalpel, time for the Y incision..."

"Well, that is unusual. The internal organs are....missing. No guts, and no heart just an excel spreadsheet and some powerpoints about accountability and leadership. In fact, it looks like the subject has been dead for some time, rotting away internally with nobody noticing. I'd place time of death at least a couple of years ago, but the disease has obviously been progressing for many years..."

"So, Sam...natural causes then?"

"That's not how I see it Harry. There are clear signs of foul play and..."

"Ahh, your notorious opinions Sam..."

"They're not opinions, they're facts!"

"Not according to...Chief Inspector No SPIN..."

Tonight on Silent Witness...

Someone doesn't want Sam to find the truth about a particularly gruesome death. In her usual fashion, Sam decides to investigate anyway even though she isn't a police officer. There is intrigue, action, misuse of power, tasteful autopsy scenes, Amanda Burton looking appalled in an Irish accent, the sound of angry members hurling $55 hamburgers at the Holden Centre windows, and a cameo from Eddie McGuire. Tune in to ABC tonight! Relax, it's only fiction...

I won my cashy because Treloar exploded!

Just got home...

I'm not sure about this. A lot of people are telling me "you kicked 1.10 from set shots, that's not Buckley's fault". This is opposition supporters.

Now, I don't know if we really did kick 1.10 from set shots or not (seems legit), but that clearly is not a Bucks issue. Players like Fasolo.... 1.3 - not good enough.

But the decline has been consistent. Buckley, by his own admission, was going to be out this year if finals were not reached. Unless the miraculous occurs we won't be making finals. So now it is time to walk the walk.

LOL!!! Absolute Classic - you should be writing comedy scripts as a profession!

Point is, the coaches should be helping the players burst through their ceiling, the way Malthouse did in the early years. That's what makes us Collingwood.

As I said problems with BOTH.

Bucks game plan is flawed and is also contibuting to our poor kicking imo, it's far too taxing and constantly either clogged or no one presenting an option fwd.

Pendles is either injured or mentally off.

Adams was played in the fwd line FFS, why? Pressure?

Nothing to do with what you said but I'll add Fasolo is a one way runner, I was disgusted by some of his efforts today. Also, I assume it's been mentioned a lot, probably after selection but why the **** do we bring in Cox on a wet day?

Imo he has an injury couldn't get out of 3rd gear all game, even when he tried to accelerate he pulled up and jogged.

Definitely carrying something and trying to fox us all by saying nothings a matter.

Reckon it's that foot injury fron the Richmond game.
Clearly not the same player since then.

What terrified me most at the press conference was Buckley openly conceding that the players don't listen to him and have gone against all they planned and discussed two weeks in a row. If a coach can't communicate his gameplan to his players then he should not be coach!!
I haven't listened to his press conference, but that's horrific to hear.

Something is seriously breaking down between the coach and the players if he cannot convey his message to them. Something has to give...
