I don't mind optimism.
But being optimistic for the sake of it is a waste of energy.
Particularly when the realities have been in front of you for some time now.
Does it take energy to be optimistic? I find it a natural state. I know it takes more muscles to frown than smile. Still, all states of mind aside, I conceed that it has got a lot harder for Bucks. I can't quite ignore the fact that had we converted our scoring opportunities at say 75% we win five games. So on the side of balance, if it's all Bucks fault that we've lost four games it's also fair to say he has coached us into winning positions as well. It's a fine line between pleasure and pain I'm told.

What if we kicked straight? Or kicked as well as them, the game is tied, very close or we scrape over the line. Do you then all rip bucks apart as well? I was there, like most of you, thought structure was fine, got beaten one out down back 2-3 times, our kicking inside 50 was better but still lacking, and conversion atrocious. 60% vs 41% kicking accuracy, 43 vs 66 inside 50s. We were even across the board in statistics except those two. I seriously think with time and some adjustments moving forward we are 4-1 and not 1-4. Bucks can't go and kick the flipping goals for these boys.

Seriously any AFL would be happy with 43-66, we just need to figure out shit out going forward and we are there.

I haven't listened to his press conference, but that's horrific to hear.

Something is seriously breaking down between the coach and the players if he cannot convey his message to them. Something has to give...

Or it's time for wholesale changes. If players aren't listening send them to the VFL... and replace them with.... oh sh**.... about the only swap right now that seems to make sense is Scharenburg in for Ramsay. I'd like Aish back... but for whom?

Really? I thought 90s music was only marginally ahead of 80's.
The 80's was the nadir of all music decades imo.

The 90's had some awesome music. Grunge, Britpop, indie, alt-rock, gangsta rap, trip hop, dub etc etc. One of the most outstanding decades of music I think.

I suppose it's what you grew up with though and to some people the 80's was the best ever decade musically and to be fair every decade has had some great stuff.

As I said problems with BOTH.

Bucks game plan is flawed and is also contibuting to our poor kicking imo, it's far too taxing and constantly either clogged or no one presenting an option fwd.

Yeah, the players have lost their mojo, Fas being example number 1. I will always love Bucks, and he is not the only coach we employ, but as head coach he has to own this.

What I see every week is a side devoid of confidence and lacking a team-first moral. That's a coaching issue.

We are also playing a style of footy that seems to make out team look look like less than the sum of our parts. Also a coaching issue.

For all of that, we're not getting killed (yet) which would mean that our fortunes are reversible, but maybe not with this coaching group.

WHE will only get better loki04 don't judge him on today's game........also don't forget he won us our only game this year.

He is a keeper IMO.

Yeah i know he is a bit soft at times and needs to address that but tbh it wasn't really directed at him (even though I know he is what we traded for) more just a general qq that we wont get to double dip in the top 25 of the draft.

Just feel we need the double hit, to expedite our list deficiencies.

Reckon it's that foot injury fron the Richmond game.
Clearly not the same player since then.

Sliding tackle from the Sydney game I reckon.

I can understand if we retain Bucks for another week given we have a five-day break before the Cats, but he should make way after that.

DeGoey can come back in round 7 thinking that not only did he "let Bucks down", his ******* stupidity directly contributed to his downfall.

Unless Buckley walks I can not see him being sacked by ED before the year is out. Much like Shaw who was told he wont be renewed and to coach the year out as a development year and see what the list has by playing all the youth.

Yeah I'm really excited about being in winning positions, even though 4 out of 5 sides we've played are rubbish.

Reckon we should lobby the AFL to give us few points for these winning positions.

Yeah, the 90's...

I'll just leave this here.

I'm pleased you were excited but also clearly unfulfilled . Your point of view however doesn't change the facts that defeats have been of our own making.

One more big forward and I think we will be ok moving forward..........other than the elephant in the room.

My biggest confusion is around Reid. We are not strong down back, that's clear, but we are not doing well in defense anyway, whilst we are losing games by having no real strong target forward at all. Why play Howe, Reid, Schade and Goldsack down back, when we have no strong forward and get murdered by quick fast short attackers anyway.

The other thing is, Dunn is a gun kick which we are lacking from defense. Then we can have fasolo and Elliot be the crumbing players they should be rather than our key forward targets.

Hey Guys, think that you are definitely a better side then your 1-4 record suggests, would love to see how your teams going in another 12 weeks time, when Elliott Wells and WHE are really up and running, could already see how big time Jamie Elliott is to your forward line, great stuff in just his 1st game back.
Don't think I'm really qualified to say weather or not Bucks is the man to take your club forward, from the outside looking in it doesn't seem that he has lost the players, although it does seem that he is very quickly losing the faith of the supporter, which can be just as important.

I retrieved my shredded membership from the shedder and re-shredded it.. now it resembles dust. I should go and blow it on Mcguire's face.

People actually let you play with a shredder?

Watched the presser now. Defeated man. Bucks is a dead man walking. Only playing on false hope.

Mercy rule. End it now!

KPF and need some genuine line breakers with pace and finishing skills as well.

Also need a quality KPD to replace Reid in next 3-4 years, takes KPD 4-5 years to come on properly.

I said the same about drafting Clokes replacement a few years back but most on here thought we could address it when the time came, which is rarely ever the case.
When replacing Bookends it has to be done in advance so they are ready when called upon, we were left in an embarrassing state KPP wise this year.

I was gonna punt my membership into the bin, but instead I chose to handball it to a stationary player two metres away who fumbled it twice before being tackled by Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti. And it turns out that most of our players had left their man to come spectate the membership-to-the-bin contest which left Joe Daniher out the back by himself so Tippa passed it to him and he ran his full distance with it and bombed it long and direct which is quite sensible in wet weather and I haven't seen it since so I think technically I'm a member of the Essendon Football Club now.

And if that's what it ends up being that's not a bad outcome. Gives us time to find a good replacement.

I've always been a defender of Bucks, like a lot here I've prev thought the criticism was a bit tough and put the blame more on the players for bad skill errors. After all, he's not the one out there missing simple set shots each week.

Today's different. There were a few things that today showed he is not up to it.

- Pendlebury starting the game at full forward and spending a lot of game time there - he's an elite mid Bucks, he's never been a marking forward and never will be.

- Adams forward. Similar issue, he was recruited as an inside mid and is one of the best in the team at that. He can't kick straight, he's not a forward.

I understand there's a need for 'rotations' and whatever other BS that gets focused on but moving two of our best clearance players out of position is just daft.

- Ball movement late in the game. 4 goals down with 10 minutes left is not the time for backwards kick to kick to run down the clock. Not sure if the blame is on the coach or senior players for this.

- Cox selection. I want him to do well at this level, but a recall on a day that was forecast to be wet is stupid. He can't do anything below his knees and guess where the ball ends up in the wet? That said, he was decent in the ruck.

-Handball frenzy in the opening term. No explanation needed.

-Disorganised setup at the start of the second quarter. It might not have been noticeable on the TV but when all the players were set up for the first bounce of the quarter two of our players sprinted off to the bench just before the whistle. They had the whole break to organise positions and the bench, but two players were on the field that had to get off.

This one was a big one for me, when it happened I really lost hope in the team. That in particular is AusKick level stuff... 4 players on the bench. Not hard.

Going forward I'm not even sure what the solution is. Personally, I'll still be attending every game in Melbourne since I've already paid for my membership, there's no point skipping them now.
That was a goal today wasnt touched and it was great to watch
