List Mgmt. Post Season Fact File - Comings and Goings

Here we go with the annual trade/draft fact file. There's so much chat going on in the Trades and Draft 2022 threads that it's impossible to keep up.
So this is for the benefit of those like me who only want the executive summary of what's actually been confirmed (no BF or media speculation please):
  • Delistings
  • Trades completed
  • Trades officially requested, either in or out
  • Free Agents wanting in or out (and what sort of FA they are - RFA, UFA, DFA)
  • FS or NGA prospects confirming they want to be drafted by us
  • Any changes to our draft picks - we should have 11,29,37,65, 83 (exchanged future thirds with North last year so we get pick #37, they get #47)
  • Players we select in the ND and RD
  • Any other list management decisions in case I've forgotten some category (but let's keep the coaching stuff separate)
No discussion of whys or wherefores please (that's for the draft/trade threads) but clarifications are welcome.

I'll try to keep a summary up to date in the OP as follows.

==========================================================================================================
DEPARTURES
  • Josh Dunkley has been traded to Brisbane. We received 2022 pick #21, a future first round pick, a future second (both tied to Brisbane), a future fourth (Geelong) in exchange for Dunkley, a future third (WB) and a future third (Melbourne, received for Hunter).
  • Zaine Cordy has transferred to StKilda on a 3 year contract as a free agent. (5 Oct). Due to the WB getting Liam Jones as an UFA they will get no draft compensation for Cordy.
  • Lachie Hunter was traded to Melbourne for a future third round pick (on-traded to Brisbane as part of the Dunkley trade).
  • Josh Schache was traded to Melbourne for a future fourth round pick.
  • Mitch Wallis, Louis Butler and Charlie Parker have all been delisted (announced 17 Oct 22)
  • Stefan Martin has announced his retirement. (17 Oct)

ARRIVALS
  • Liam Jones has returned to the Bulldogs as an unrestricted free agent after spending a year out of the AFL. Jones, aged 31, has signed a 3 year contract. (4 Oct) Jumper 19.
  • Rory Lobb (turns 30 in Feb 2023) has been traded to the Bulldogs for pick #30 and a future second. Understood to be a four year contract. Jumper 7.
  • Jedd Busslinger (East Perth, 196cm, 83kg, DoB 11/03/04) was selected with pick 13 of the National Draft. Jumper 5.
  • Charlie Clarke (Sandringham Dragons, 183cm, 79kg, DoB 04/01/04) was selected with pick 24 of the National Draft. Jumper 8.
  • Harvey Gallagher (Bendigo Pioneers, 179cm, 77kg, DoB 26/09/03) was selected with pick 39 of the National Draft. Jumper 12.
  • Oskar Baker (Melbourne) added to the list as a delisted free agent. Jumper 13.

RETENTIONS

DRAFT PICKS
  • The WB appear to have only three main list spots available (seven off, four on: Jones, Lobb, Sweet, Khamis) plus three rookie spots (for de-listed Parker, and the two upgraded rookies Sweet and Khamis).
  • We currently have picks 11, 21, 39, 69 & 87. This is according to Lore's provisional draft order.
  • WB ended up with ND picks 13, 24 and 39 in play after bid-matching. See "Arrivals" above for the players selected.
  • WB passed on its Rookie Draft picks (30/11/22).
DRAFT and TRADING DATES
  • The National Draft will be teased out over two days: 28-29 November.
  • Day one starts at 7:10pm. Day two appears to start at 7pm (AFL website is ambiguous).
  • Prior to that there will be two DFA periods: 3-9 November and 11-15 November.
  • Trading of picks only (not players) may continue until 15 November (as well as on the second draft night).
  • Pick trading during the National Draft is from 5:45pm to 6:30pm on 29 November. There is no indication on the AFL web page of live trading being allowed after that (does anybody have any different info?)
  • Rookie Upgrade period runs for one hour from 10pm 29 November.
  • A third DFA period runs in parallel with the rookie upgrade period (10-11pm 29 November).
  • The Pre-Season Draft is scheduled for 3pm on 30 November.
  • The Rookie Draft is scheduled for 3:20pm on 30 November.
  • Final 2023 list lodgement time is 4pm 1 December 2022.
  • The Pre-season Supplemental Selection period window opens on Monday, December 5 and runs until February 15.
Check the AFL official page here.

FUTURE DRAFT PICKS

While there are still various conflicting news reports, according to the Draft Guru the WB now have the following draft picks for 2023 (with the name of club to which each is tied):
  • Round 1 - 2 picks - WB + Brisbane (Dunkley trade)
  • Round 2 - 1 pick - Brisbane (Dunkley trade)
  • Round 3 - 0 picks
  • Round 4 - 3 picks - WB + Geelong (Dunkley trade) + Melbourne (Schache trade)
This ties in with the AFL trade tracker page so it seems to be correct.

CARLTON is likely to receive draft compensation for Liam Jones, with the Blues officially informed he will be classified as an unrestricted free agent this off-season.

Liam Jones (31) has returned to the Bulldogs from Carlton as a UFA after a year out of the game. He has a three-year contract.

Charlie Parker and Louis Butler delisted.

Mitch Wallis not offered a contract for 2023.
Was he delisted or just retired? Article on WB website doesn’t say he was “not offered a contract”.

Same result I know, but looks better to have chosen to jump rather than be pushed.

He seems to have been delisted, AFL.com.au saying he's looking elsewhere and our article saying he's considering options before making a decision.

Was delisted. Had an interview with derwyane on sen this arvo if someone wants to link it.
Says it's still pretty raw will always bleed red white and blue but is still very keen to play on somewhere if given an opportunity.

OP has now been updated with:
  • trades
  • delistings
  • Martin's retirement
  • 2022 draft picks (provisional)
  • 2023 future draft picks

Sweet and Khamis to be promoted to the main list, per Sam Power in the recent member Q&A

Does this mean we only have three National Draft picks now (but three rookie spots)?

Possibly only 2 rookie picks as I think Khamis may have still been on Category B status. (unless we pick 1 or 2 more Category B rookies?)
Good point.
I thought Milesi said three rookie picks in the Q&A. He could have meant two plus a Cat B though.
TBC.
