When I was 12 I had Meningococcal B-strain. Spent 5 weeks in a coma in ICU, then another 3 awake in ICU, and 1 more on a ward.
Multiple surgeries, including heart-lung bypass, ECMO treatment which had only been done about 3 times in the world before me, plus many others. Parents told I was going to die many times, and literally dead 4 times, but then brought back with adrenaline. Vegetations on my heart that are currently still there, and if they move i could die (lucky scar tissue grew over them)
I am a celebrity in the ICU ward of the royal childrens hospital

Also, when about to be born, had a rare occurance which happens with like 1/10000 babies, where I was tangled in the umbilical cord. The doctor told my mum if I moved my leg down I would have died, due to breaking the umbilical chord.

I have had a screwed up life with illness.

it seems I've been bested. :(

meningococcal is ****ing horrible though.

Tell me about it. It was the worst. It was scary when I woke up, being 12, I was aware of what was going on, and thought I was going to die.
Wasn't the nicest experience

When 10 broke my arm playing football, got plaster off, next day after plaster coming off broke other arm when playing basketball

The only two broken bones i've had in my life to date.

Was born and diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth. Luckily missed out on any real mental effects, and the physical disability (pidgeon toe and achilles tendon tightness) was able to be fixed just last December through the wonders of modern medical practices.

Thank god I was a good talker, because such a disability through childhood would be enough to wreck most young people's social capacity.

I was really lucky. I can't watch any paralympic sport or anything because I see those people and think how by all rights I could have ended up in a similar situation.

My mate has cerebral palsy and he is one of the most socially adapt person you could ever come across. Genuine bloke and a Pies supporter and you can't say a wrong word about him because for him to be able to go through what he has/is and still be the guy that he is, well, good on him.
:thumbsu:
