This is a lot better than I remembered, kind of wish it got up now.

Watching our guys sing the current one is a bit cringe, you can tell some of them don't really get into it.

This song is good ... apart from the "Freo" part. I don't know how they could have done it differently without changing the whole thing, but at the same time it just sounds wrong and awkward to me. Still way better than the abomination we're stuck with.

I voted for this and really disappointed it didn’t win. Sounds more like something you’d hear after the siren on GF Day than the current song.

IIRC in the member's referendum in 2010 that version got the most number of first preference votes, but the current version got up on points.

The song absolutely swings. The problem is the players sing the wrong part after a win and it looks & sounds awful.

It quite literally has a chant in it and yet, for some reason, the players have never actually sung the part in it that requires a chorus of singers. Boneheads.

Our song's 'Freo-heave ho' bridge, is the primary sequence taken from Volga Boatmen song. It is composed and sung for choral performance... so after a win, we get 22 blokes into a circle who DON'T sing it, instead, choosing to awkwardly gyrate to mild-tempo late 80's rock disaster.
