Glass, your team looks VERY expensive, you sure that'll fit? I like it overall, not sure on starting L'berger though.

Athomas, it's good that you're keeping your options open, but again, looks very expensive.

My latest attempt at a DT side:

Cornes (439, 600)
Burgoyne (388, 000)

I did mine on the Fan Footy planner for SuperCoach, so it fits in according to that.

As for your team.

Your backs are very impressive. I myself am over Ellis, and I think you could save some money by putting someone like Myers in.

Great Midfield, except for Muston. Ok ruckman as well. Forwards look good, I have some question marks over Sellar though.

And everyone's bench will be pretty weak anyway.

I wouldnt be starting Prismall. Too risky. Plus your bench is a bit expensive..

I like your forward line though. :thumbsu:

Guys your team should really depend on what you want to win. If you are going for the grand prize then you pick your team accordingly but if you are simply trying to win your league its not a bad idea to start with 10 or so players you dont intend to be in your team by years end but who will rise $100,000 and be good trade ins.

Also on the ruck debate, is Dean Cox $100,000 better than Brendon Lade?

I used the fanplanner thing and came under the 10mill so hopefully its prices are correct.

Athomas that's a good team but I don't like having first year players starting. Though if you're planning on wearing the low numbers, risking zero scores and sacrificing trades to make some cash then that could go alright. Would watch NAB as could pick better bench players I think.

Virgil again more first years starting than I'd pick plus I would strengthen the fwd and ruck lines.

David is a good even team. Perhaps swap Selwood as there are surer bets for rookies getting games in my opinion.

And Doggies I went that whole extra rookies thing last year and got stung by running out of trades. I think the 8 bench players and perhaps 1-2 more starters would be plenty of potential cash cows. And I'm a believer in having Cox in just about any team.

Virgil again more first years starting than I'd pick plus I would strengthen the fwd and ruck lines.

Well, technically I haven't got any first year players, but I know what you mean. I guess I'd rather an 83k player capable of averaging 50 then a player twice (or even thrice) that price who'll only average 10 points more.

Yeah, my team used to be more balanced, but I deliberately created an imbalance to try to garner more points, because I had Riewoldt and Douglas, which I switched to Thompson and Medhurst, because I believe that Riewoldt will be easier to upgrade to as elite forwards are not as consistant as elite midfielders. So yeah, I quite deliberately loaded up on one half of the team, and I am quite happy with my Rucks thank you :thumbsu:. You watch, Laycock will be the MacIntosh of '08 (or perhaps '09 :p).

Yeah fair point. Provided they get game time it could work.

And I've pinched your idea a little and swapped in an extra, cheaper forward for future upgrade. Thompson and Hawkins are already in there but looking at D. Thomas/Cloke/Hall/Williams/Welsh to sit in the team for a bit and hopefully gain some $$$. Which of those is the pick of the bunch??

Also unsure about having two ex-knee injury players (Coughlan and Thompson) in the team. Would you take Polo over Coughlan?

As Doggies suggested I've changed my mind a little and looking to have 6-8 mid-range coming-of-injury or just-going-to-get-better players that will be earmarked for upgrade. That of course relies on picking good cash cows for the bench as well...

Anybody like to explain the reasoning for Scotty Selwood and Brad Ebert, Selwood looks ok but is at least 5kg from playing as an inside midfielder and we have much better options than him off half back. Ebert looks ok on the track but not AFL ready just yet, could barely notice him in the first intraclub match.

Masten - yes, has had a good pre season and is almost a year older than the other 2 and a much more natural ball winner. Would be very likely to line up in round 1.

I doubt scooter and ebo will play more than 10 games each, Masten is much more AFL ready.

I would be looking much harder at another young west coast mid thats ready to burst onto the scene, Matt Priddis mkII IMO.

There are several gambles there but the two bold are just 100% don't touch with a 10 foot pole.

Welsh is injury prone and never gets good stats. Is more of a 3 goals 10 kicks kinda guy, but won't do it consistently.

Warnock was a solid last year as a cheapie when Sandilands was injured. He will not play too many games if Sandilands is fit, and additionally they are more likely to play GILMORE ahead of him as he also is an extra midfielder who gets possies. Go for Griffin or M Gardiner instead if u need a cheapie ruckman. You want your best two DT ruckman to be #1 ruckmen in their teams. Why wouldn't u get SIMMONDS instead?

you have a point... wasnt sure if he was fit or not with the hospitalisation last year...

who would u say are gambles... just after an opinion... side no where near finalised

Subs: Callan Ward (83,500) Ibbotson (96,400)

Eade has said due to the doggies blooding a lot of players last year, that this year only a couple of first year players will get a run, and that won't be till later on in the season. I'd pick someone else for the bench, because Ward isn't likely to a game just yet.

Ok this is my team how its stands at the moment...
Obviously the NAB cup can change alot of things though..
