Good luck for next week

Congrats for making the gf and good luck for next week. I have really enjoyed watching the cats play this year.

I really couldn't stand to see port or the kangas win it.

Re: The Official Congrats and good luck for the grannie thread

Thanks all, some classy comments from Pies' fans considering you'd have to feel pretty shattered after such a close game. Kudos.

Didn't manage to catch all the game...but well done to Geelong. I think getting to the grand final was the least Geelong deserved for the great season they've had.

Sincere congratulations to Geelong and their supporters. Great game last night, Collingwood played out of their skin, Geelong were down somewhat, but still managed to get through and sneak home.

Having once lived in Drumcondra as a kid, I still have a soft spot for the Cats and may the 44 year long drought be broken next weekend.

Good luck to everyone concerned with the Cats and may the premiership be theirs, after being far and away the dominant and most deserved winners in 2007.

Good Luck.

I think a lot of us realize our time isn't here yet, but we're pretty proud of what we are seeing.

You guys though.. Your time is now, go grab it :)

I hope we win it. You guys played brilliantly and definitely made the most of your opportunities. With guys like Rusling and Cloke in the forward line, you'll be a force in the competition for the next few years. Well done Pies.

Yes, Good Luck Geelong and well done last night. Best side won, not only the best side last night, but the best side of 07 and you guys fully deserve to go and take the premiership.

Great game last night though, and I didnt turn the TV off disappointed but excited about the prospects of next season. Right now though, it is Geelong's time to shine.

The other thing that is good, is that opposition supporters can congratulate the other team and not get into a slanging match, as a good discussion of footy is always good.

Go Cats!

Re: Congrats from a Pies supporter!!

Sure is good to have the supporters of opposition congratulate your team after the game. Before and during the game the gloves are off but when the game is over it what makes our game the greatest that we can talk with the opposition.

If we were in England with the soccer it would be a case of being equipped with various weapons.

Collingwood are a strong outfit and the kids will only get better, but right now its the year of the CAT

NOW You've Earned It

So sick of hearing from people that Geelong had earned a spot in the GF, some even saying they'd earned the flag, because you've had such a fantastic season... predictions of 10-goal wins and the like (I don't believe the Geelong team shares this sense of entitlement though).

I hope we showed you last night, finishing top earns you home ground advantage through the finals, and a week off if you win the Qualifying Final. Nothing more.

Having said all that, the Cats were too good last night and now you have truly earned your right to play off for the flag. I hope you take it with both hands, safe in the knowledge that your season up until now means **** all.

I'll be cheering for you. Good luck. :thumbsu:

Re: NOW You've Earned It

Cheers Sampler, but you don't have to tell Geelong fans that what we've done so far is farg all. Some Cat fans would rate the year a success if we dropped the Granny but IMO the majority of Cats would feel that this is the flag that MUST be won.

Your blokes were fantastic last night - a very courageous performance. You were like that knight in Holy Grail that kept fighting with no arms and legs 'it's only a flesh wound!' we just couldn't put you away.

You need a ruckman mate.

regards,

REB

I know. I feel like Oliver Twist.

Please Mick, I want a ruckman!

Obviously, he couldn't help that Josh was injured, but when you have three ruckmen on your list, and two of them are named Richards and Bryan, what does he expect?

As much as I agree with that Goo, you have to take your chancewhen it arises. The boys played out of their skin last night, but your mob just had all the answers, and that's why, whoever you play next week, you'll smash.

It still feels like a missed oppourtunity, though. People talk about our youngsters, but by the time they've devloped we won't have Bucks, Wakes, Presti, Clement, Lockyer, Rocca, O'Bree etc.We needed to take that.

Re: NOW You've Earned It

You have to worry when one of your ruckmen was given the ar5e by Carlton of all clubs. Someone else who might be worrying would be Mark Blake.

If you guys snare Judd and get a decent Ruck you will be a top 4 team next year for sure.

Couldn't agree more. Who knows what next year might bring. Injuries? Retirements? Had Fraser been able to play last night perhaps it might have ended different. We probably wouldn't have been smashed in the ruck and from there, who knows.

Takes a lot of things to go your way to win a flag.

This isn't aimed at you, because you're not making excuses, but other Collingwood fans are balming this for the loss. How do we know that he wouldn't have reinjured himself in the first minute had he played? He would've been gone for the match, and left us a player short on the bench which would screw our rotations.

We put our best 22 that were available out there to play the best 22 they could use. They we're five points better on the night.

Yeh I've seen that going around too. If he wasn't 100% he done the right thing by calling himself unfit, he would have been expected to haul a big load last night.

Re: Congrats from a Pies supporter!!

Well done to the pies last night.. forced us to play their type of game for all but a cpl of 10 minute bursts. Was wrapped we were able to hang on & win the close one but you had to be impressed by the pies & how they kept coming.. each time we got a few goals in front i thought we might run away... but they just kept pegging it back

great game !!
