Does anyone have any thoughts on good backline emergencies?? Alot of people seem to have Suban, A Smith, OKeefe (not sure which one), Hill and Davis. My question is which of the cheap defenders are going to get alot of game time??

Yeah pretty good, if you can I would try and not have a rookie as ur 7th forward so if u can upgrade there then ur flying apart from that.
The other concern I have is Andrew Raines. It's just a personal thing but if u think he will do well then good luck to you .

Value… Cornes broke his hand last year and was limited, Drum will get more run time this year, Brown wasn’t used a lot by North, Maguire – cheap, Egan – extremely cheap. I think I have a good mix of players here with majority playing some time in the midefield.

Centres: B.Harvey (NM) D.Kerr (WC) C.Masten (WC) B.Cousins (Rich) J.Lewis (Haw) T.Cotchin (Rich) S.Sidebottom (Coll) D.Beams (Coll)

Quality mixed with youth. Cotchin and Masten will no doubt improve on impressive starts to their careers. Lewis is undervalued. Harvey, quality. Kerr and Cousins add quality assuming they’re injury free and all there mentally. Taking a punt on Cousins but I think it’ll be worth it.

Rucks: D.Cox (WC) M.Kreuzer (Carl) B.Hudson (WB) M.Leuenberger (Bris)

My weak point last year until I bought Cox in about round 13. Then he went on to injure himself and lose some effectiveness. 2 up and coming ruckmen with 1 star and Hudson is an unknown depending on how he returns from injury. Good value though.

Forwards: L.Franklin (Haw) D.Thomas (Coll) T.Cloke (Coll) J.Kennedy (WC) J.Riewoldt (Rich) A.Edwards (NM) H.Skipworth (Ess) J.Watts (Melb) C.Yarran (Carl)

Probably my weak point at this stage. Thomas may be a little overrated by some but I think he’ll improve and Cloke will get back to 2007 form. Kennedy was a target late in the season for West Coast last year. North don’t have a great forward line so I think Edwards will get a fair bit of game time. Skipworth is the most undervalued player on Supercoach. What do you say about Buddy. Some will say he’ll get double teamed all year and not be effective. I say, another pre-season, added strength, speed, stamina… unstoppable again!

Overall I’m happy with my team at this stage. Yes, I’ve gone with a few Collingwood players (maybe a little bias) but they’re players that will be important to the team. There’s some injury clouds across some players (Cox, Hudson, Kerr, Maguire, Egan) but they’re all worth taking a punt on. Also have some young kids that if they play early on, will rocket in value.

terrible. you've spent too much on your ruckmen, not enough on your forwards, lewis in injured, cousins won't play more than 65% game time, leigh brown is a tall defender, avoid all tall defenders at all costs. restart it and i'm not saying that becase i'm a carlton man, just restart it, aaron edwards, suspended until round 5

www.injuryupdate.com.au is a good place to start. ummm, backline, awful. keep shaw, cornes and that's it. avoid tall defenders, and houli is over priced, traditionally avoid second year players.

I'm pretty happy at the moment and I have 40,000 left over, although I don’t have many big guns in the forward line, could down grade Petrie and upgrade McPhee to a Franklin or Fevola. Years ago it was hard for a forward to scores goals but with all these news rules forwards are scoring more goals! Still they can easily get held to a single goal game – no points there!

To the Essendon supporters with the bombers being such a young will they use Mcphee as a link/go to man? Is he fit?

Not sure about having 2/3 rookies in your forward line. In fact you have rookies all over the park. To me, they're a definite no in midfield except as a bench player (I have 2 there). You may find some value in doing this as their value will certainly go up as long as they play, but is it worth losing 4 or 5 games early in the season just so that you can make a profit. Makes it hard to get to finals from there.
