Not sure where else to put some random thoughts other than here.

I don't see much difference at all between last year and this year in style . Think the lazy gaps still exist , where we stop running and we get scored against easily . Those goals in the 2nd and 3rd within the first 15 seconds are just indicative of not being switched on.

Grand final day last year not switched on, all the slow starts last year - just good enough and not carrying injures so ran over teams

1- what's with the lapses where we just look like we can't even get the ball or look disengaged?

2- Why do our forwards and players up the ground full stop refuse to lead. We may get in a spot but players stop and wave their hands and want it kicked on their head. Especially forward , no one leads out and wants the ball in front? Maybe it is right but it just makes no sense to me, create space lead into multiple spots, draw defenders away.
Not like anyone takes big pack marks. We look dangerous when we have guys leading out , but maybe because it's rare
and we just want to go fast quick and no time to lead?

3- Why do we consistently zone off in defence, I get looking to create overlap but we seem to concede a high number
of goals over the top to free opposition forwards.

4- why do we bomb the ball high all the time?
Is it better to just constantly clear the ball or do we need to lower the eyes

5- kicks in either play on and long and wide to a contest or a short kick- seems we do it a lot.

Random observations and may be totally different wrong, but Injust find the plan baffling
27 scoring shots to 20. Pretty simple at the end of the day. McLean, Blakey, Francis and Campbell all guilty. Would have won if you kicked straight.

Yeah but that's a little misleading too, Port were kind of average too and didn't take all the chances to score they could have from
our errors. The Pies would have beaten that effort by about 80-100

Live in Bne, went to Lions v Pies Thursday night then was in Sydney for Easter and went out to the SCG for a rare home game. Comparing the crowds, Sydney one seems to be a bit more well heeled. Bne crowd a real mix of demographics. More teenagers at Bne with plenty of 6ft plus boys decked out in their Lions merch, bouncing footies around. Conclusion:

Lions academy has more raw talent to work with than Sydney.

I’d like to ask some questions of the Swans marketing people. I’ll even provide some answers.

1. What club are we? A: Sydney Swans
2. What are our colours? A: Red and white
3. What are St Kilda’s colours? A: Red white and black
4. Why the **** are we wearing red white and black?

I couldn't find an appropriate thread but please mods move it if you need to.

Bloods Culture....

It this still a legitimate thing?

Was that just the Kirk, Bolton, Goodes era!

I don't see too much ' Bloods Culture' in the side.

The non negotiables are now do it if you feel like it... things like....

Hard running both ways, ferocious tackling, even sticking tackles, hunting in packs, shepparding, attacking the ball.

It was real hard contested honest football and I have t seen that in the last few seasons.

I'll stop ranting.

Think it was a Roos era thing really and gradually faded over time, maybe the game went past it a bit too. Sometimes we were maybe too negative but you knew if a side beat us they at least worked for it.

we love watching a lizard run but i'd rather see Kennedy and Bolton going tackle for tackle .

Bloods culture also married up well with the strengths of those players, whether they were recruited for a particular gamestyle which demanded hardness at the ball, elite pressure etc or the game style was dictated by the strengths of the players on our list already, I'm not really sure.

Our coaches needs to figure out what game style they want to utilise & commit wholeheartedly to that style imo.

They seem to have committed to lean outside running play and pushing up off the opposition forwards trying to make them accountable? run through the corridor and move on quickly , it's just been worked out

Yea, I'd love to see us go to the extreme with that style & have variations of that style. Have multiple guys running for handball receives after a mark, have multiple leads. For me that style means movement, whether through kick mark or handball or a mixture but it means constant movement. I think we're just not committing to whatever we're doing.

Idk how we are going to pull this off but I guess we tried with Taylor Adams

Brisbane were perennial bottom 4 clearance / bottom 4 in general team until they made a recruit in Neale

He wasn't Brownlow form when he got recruited either. But he completely changed their midfield game and they shot up the ladder

Honestly Horse's outside game plan got us to 2 GFs. 2 is not a fluke. We could possibly get by with a weaker forward line but we need that midfield accumulator that sees ball gets ball, hands it off to Heeney, Warner or Errol and its game over

Ran into Dion Prestia at the cafe in the building I work in this morning. A long way from a Barangaroo tower to Punt road.

Well I followed the prompt on CODE Sports and downloaded our team poster, and there were a few things that caught my eye...

In the next iteration of "Where Will Tom McCartin Play This Week?" he is being trialled as a small forward, apparently.

Congratulations to Joel & Lewis, the first conjoined twins to play in the AFL.

Do these two just spontaneously combust if separated from each other, or ?

Pete Ladhams with his best "Florida man arrested after drinking detergent and getting into a fight with an alligator" mugshot.

"Captain's Log, stardate 10525... there appears to be a strange life-form growing out of the top of first officer Spock's head. It is too soon to tell, but early signs suggest he might be the greatest defender the game has ever seen."

44 players on the list and 43 of them are looking at the camera. Combined with his suspension earlier this year, I think it's time we ask the question: Does Caiden Cleary have a problem with authority?

Why are all our players skinny as a rake? 😟

If you are a member you can get a Code subscription for a year

I rushed to claim until I realised they were going to continue billing after the free period was over (much like Amazon etc) and then didn't get any further while I was wondering whether it might be anywhere near as difficult to unsubscribe. (Of course it won't be - nothing else could be nearly that difficult.)

I was walking along the beach this afternoon and came across some swans. 🦢 😍

Normally when I see swans, it means we win the next match 🤞. (The exception being last year's grand final, which doesn't count because nothing would have saved us that day!)
