Does anyone know if there is going to be films based on the "Tomorrow, When the War Began" series?

Also, a film on the book Twelve, by Nick McDonnell - I know Miramax or someone bought the rights to it.

Anyone?

That would be quality... The books in that series were pretty much the only ones i have ever enjoyed reading... i'm not big into reading @ all, but i loved those books...

This has been discussed before. I think the Tomorrow books are a little too long-winded for a movie...perhaps if they'd only had three, but seven (or eight now)...the movies would either have to go on and on and on, or they'd have to cut a lot out. They were great as books, I love them, but would they work as a movie?

I think they were going to do it once, but changed their mind. Anna Paquin was going to play the role of Ellie, IIRC.

Maybe it could be done in a trilogy, like LOTR, but there is still a lot of sitting around in the story (eg, in Hell) that is crucial but wouldn't make for much viewing.

Your probably right BomberGal, there's just too many books.

My friends and I often talk about your books and we think they would make a fantastic movie or mini-series. What is the news on this front?

Sydney producer and director Esben Storm, one of Australia's best-known television personalities, now has an option to film the 'Tomorrow, When the War Began' series. It's a short-term option, but can be renewed for up to a couple of years. While this option is in force, Esben is the only person with the right to try and get the series on to the big screen, or for that matter, the small screen. Esben loves the books, he is certainly committed to them, and has huge ideas for this project. If he's successful, the filming of 'Tomorrow, When the War Began' and its sequels will be the biggest movie project ever undertaken in Australia! I'll keep you posted!
