I'm pretty bloody happy about Hassan as well! Wanganeen-esque in some of the things he did for us this year. And THAT mark in the prelim is something I will never forget. I'd be surprised if he was put on the main list though. I'm quite interested as to who we will pick up in the PSD.

I don't reckon we'll pick up anyone, save the salary cap space for extra rookies and promote them if/when required. As long as we rookie list a ruckman and suicidal maniac Hassan.

Could I have the link to inside footy please, Thanks
Like Ford said, there's no link that I know of, I'll type out the details on the lads that I listed, let me know if there is a specific lad you know of, that I didn't mention, okay?

Rowan Andrews
Tassie Mariners, 11/5/85, 198cm, 82kg.
Has improved out of sight. His 2003, from 2002 when he played about 11 games, has improved an unbelievable amount. His work ethic and attitude is outstanding, playing mostly in the ruck, although he did go forward in one of the Challenge Cup games, against Qld and kicked 3 goals. He's a very good contested mark, and brave, he really has a crack. His kicking has improved heaps, but he's still a bit mechanical with his kicking, handballing and ground skills, but he's still very raw.

John Meesen
Geelong Falcons, 6/1/85, 199cm, 90kg.
Didn't go to the camp or screening, but is a tall player who came on in leaps and bounds throughout the year. He'll get over 200cm next year, and that fact alone might give him a chance to get drafted.

Will Gayfer
Murray Bushrangers, 12/7/85, 192cm, 92kg.
Tall, dour defender and at a pinch could play a bit of a rucking role. See him as a CHB, or FB. He's a long lerm defender at an AFL club and a very good prospect.

Michael Johnson
Perth, 20/10/84, 194cm, 92kg.
He played every game for the seniors and finished ninth for the best and fairest. He's a tall laconic sort of player, that stepped up and played CHB, after playing a lot in the forward line as a junior. He got a few good scalps along the way beating Brendan Fewster twice. Very skilled and has great composure - he gets the ball sometimes, and it all seems to stop around him. He's a natural footballer who at times, and he did it a lot as a junior, makes something out of nothing. He's got another level there that he doesn't know anything about yet. He's going to be one of those players who'll become a forward in time. There was quite a bit of talk about him during the year, Freo having met with him.

Joel Campbell
Pioneers, Alice Springs, 21/12/85, 187cm, 73kg.
He's related to Darryl White and Richard Cole, playing for the same club that they did. Very quick, very strong and hard at the ball. Will probably end up playing as a defender. Skillful on his preferred right side, but needs work on his left side ball use.

Tom Mentiplay
Sandringham Dragons, 11/12/85, 196cm, 90kg.
A Brighton Grammer kid, tall with very good skills. He's a rower, and rowed in Brighton's first rowing team. Had a really good school season, kicking a couple of bags of 6 or 7 from CHF. A bit of a draft mystery given his height and the little TAC games he's played. Played some good TAC games, but some exceptional school games. Can play CHF, CHB or go into the ruck.

Dean Chester
North Ballarat, 5/7/85, 178cm, 66kg.
Had an injury interrupted year (patella tendonitis and a stress fracture of the fibula), after having a sensational 2002. He kicked about 30 odd goals from about 70 shots in 2002, from a half forward flank. He's got lightning pace, and knows where the goals are. Recruiters like him because he's an excitement machine, kicking goals, and getting the crowd in. The upside to him is enormous.

Jacob Surjan[
South Fremantle, 15/8/85, 179cm, 75kg.
Very athletic player who is nationally rated as a long jumper, which showed at the draft camp. Good competitor in the middle of the ground, can kick a goal and take a mark which he showed at the national carnival. Very quick, but doesn't look it. Never gets tackled, but he lays a lot of tackles by running players down from behind. Played WAFL seniors mainly as a small forward, biggest question mark is his size.

Josh Bartel
Murray Bushrangers, 23/4/85, 191cm, 75kg.
Tall running wingman who kicks the ball a mile. Still very light, hasn't yet done much weight work. Very quick for his size, and kicks the ball 60mts. every time. Hard to match up on. Missed the latter stages of the year because he had his appendix out.

Adam Bentick
Calder Cannons, 13/6/85, 184cm, 81kg.
A midfielder and captain of the team. Has great awareness of what's around him, and uses the ball very well on his right foot. He's a team orientated player who loves to lay tackles, and work hard in and under the contests. Whilst reasonably quiet, he's a real leader, finishing runner up in the B&F.

Lukas Teague
South Fremantle, 181cm, 76kg.
Lightly framed player who has the best foot skills at the club bar none, including the senior players. He's a wingman/half-forward and more of an outside player at the moment, but that will change given time. Always finds the ball, and uses it really well.

James Allan
Geelong Falcons, 175cm, 76kg.
All Australian rover in 2002, but didn't play in 2003 after doing an ACL in a practice game. Would be a great rookie pick up. Pound for pound, he's as good a player that Michael Turner has seen. He may need to prove himself again though.

Cameron Hall
Bendigo Pioneers, 24/7/85, 176cm, 76kg.
Co-captain of Vic Country, is an exceptional ball getter. Plays as a rover/centreman, and is always in and under. Racks up big possession numbers.

Several there that sound real good to me

I'm not sure who wrote it but it appeared the clubs intention was 1 preseason, 5 rookies.

I think if the club had someone in mind for the PSD they could "arrange" for them to nominate a 1 year contract at the minimum. Depends how desperately they want their chance on an AFL list I suppose.

Don't all teams need to have a full squad for 2004?

My understanding is that there was a rule change to stop teams like Brisbane using their increased salary cap, loading up with top line players and only listing a team of 35.

I could be wrong but Im pretty sure I remember something like this.

Need to have 37-40 including veterans for 2004, then 38-40 for 2005 onwards. Pretty sure that's right

Dale Ellis (Woodville West Torrens) - Certainly wouldnt be a bad choice for a rookie list. Would like to mould him into a CHB. Pretty big boy and played well for the Eagles seniors this year

Jarrod Wright (Woodville West Torrens) - Dumped by Brisbane, could get another chance with us.

What are these people doing at Alberton. We don't want people from Loserville.

We play it safe and show him the door . . . NOW!
