I wouldn't get two wrapped up in this being the last uncompromised draft. That title went to the 2008 draft. This one's as compromised as 2010-2012, just in a slightly different way.

This draft is weak and shallow. The first round is about 5 players deep, thereafter you're looking at players who'd be 2nd or 3rd rounders in any normal draft. Under these conditions, clubs are more willing to part with draft picks - Brock McLean would not have fetched pick #11 last year.

Expect this weeks trade period to be the busiest in a long time. With the draft all but bereft of talent, I'm tipping many clubs will go looking to top up with established talent rather than untalented youngsters. My money is on trade week seeing about 20 players change clubs.

Shirley's about 90% likely to be delisted. If a trade could be arranged, both club & player would do it in an instant.

Reilly may well be available as well, if the right offer came along. We wouldn't give him away for a packet of chips, but a fair deal would probably see him in the departure lounge. Reilly did NOT play every game of the season - he missed R10-11 and R13-14. He was eligible to play in the SANFL finals, so it's safe to say those absences weren't caused by injury.
Bang on Vader....this is the year of the trade.
Clubs will do some very surprising trading this time around and some supporters may be shocked to learn just whose names are being freely banted around...

Alright, the people have spoken it seems.

Mods, kill the thread, if opposition (or our own, who know's why) supporters wish to discuss Tex in trade scenarios they can do it in the designated thread.

Other threads should be about substansiated or confirmed rumours, not crap like this Jon Andersons throws up onto paper.

It's a laughable notion that Tex will be offloaded. He has more than shown enough in the SANFL and in snippets in the AFL to suggest him in tandem with Tippett will have the potential to form the backbone of an extremely potent forward line for the next decade. Yes, he's struggled abit for consistency hence why he's been in and out of the team but you fully expect that from a 19 year old key position player. It is a lot harder to find your feet at the top level in that sort of role compared to a midfielder.

We're acutely aware as Adelaide supporters that these sorts of players are an extremely rare commodity, thus the reason we shouldn't and won't even entertain the thought of parting with him. If we had a focal point who could take strong contested marks and kick big bags up forward post the Modra era up til now, I'm certain we would of won a flag or two during that period.
