Hey guys, I was just thinking yesterday that we need some midfielders with grit. Some inside players to help top up our midfield. Any interest in picking up Brock McLean. He cant get a game at Carlton, he wouldn't cost a lot I don't think. He's only 25 and I think would add to our group. Any thoughts?

Re: Brock McLean

To be honest, unless it's Bryce Gibbs (which will never happen) I never want to deal with Carlton at the trade table again.*

Purely for the wankfest that becomes the trading thread for 2 weeks.

Would have to give up good draft picks which we need

Yes, he would. This is Carlton we're talking about.

Re: Brock McLean

I would be interested. He is still in the middle stages of his career and maybe a change of scenery just like Tambling is what he needs. He is a good in and under player, and he was showing some signs before he was injured. I think Carlton will probably ask too much for him, but maybe if we could straight swap Reilly for him, then maybe the deal will be done.

McLean would learn a lot from Scotty Thompson and they way he goes about things.

Re: Brock McLean

No thanks. He'd need to miss at least two games a year due to issues.

Not a great selling point!

Re: Brock McLean

We dont need brock mclean we need a genuine star to help lift our midfield.

Adelaide need to go all out and try and bring an SA boy home. I hate to say it but we have no choice but to sell our soul to bring one home.

Adelaide should be heavily talking to Bryce Gibbs, Adam Cooney and Ryan Griffen at any given opportunity. Under Neil Craig i do admit we have really lost our bite at the trading table due to his and triggies refusal to trade players. Guys like Reilly, Mackay, Knights and even perhaps willingly offer to trade walker if he wants to go and see if we can con a better draft pick out of GWS that can be passed on instead of sitting on our hands and waiting for our compensation pick which will definatly be lower than what GWS will offer.

However the worst thing we can do is trade in quick fix's in the hope of a quick rise up the ladder. We just need a star to help thommo in the midfield so we can start to build a side around them.

Re: Brock McLean

Brock McLean belongs in 2006, forget him.

IMO in a yrs time (assuming he isn't recontracted) you guys should throw the kitchen sink at getting Polec back to SA.

Re: Brock McLean

Cooney wont help us enough, we need a consistant battler like Gibbs or Griff

Re: Brock McLean

No thanks he's a plodder and we have enough of those :thumbsd:

He may be a plodder C4L but he's tough. I'd take a tough plodder over a soft plodder anyday. I still think (contrary to popular opinion) that he wouldn't cost a lot because of his injuries and poor form. I would like his toughness around the ball. Theres not many on our list as tough as Brock.

Re: Brock McLean

Tough? Adelaides soft players take the hits he takes several times a game, only difference he's gone after the first but of course each one he takes is a train wreck.

Besides that he would cost more then Tambling even though he's shown nothing in years except that Curnows a better option apparently a player not good enough to play a game at Adelaide but a first 22 in a contender.
Carlton massively overate everything they have, Jacobs 17 game out of contract player wanting to come here and they wanted first rounders and Bock picks. Jacobs ain't setting the world on fire he's just slightly better then the chumps we have, loves taps to disadvantage.
So we wanna fill up on the fish ben ratten rejects great.

Re: Brock McLean

I'd rather Robinson than McLean.

Re: Brock McLean

Young Redden at Brisbane is who we should target. He's today's type of mid-fielder.

McLean??

No thanks!!

Re: Brock McLean

Dont need another list clogger, we already have cook, schmidt, etc in this category.

If we are gunna trade we need some of the best SA talent around.

IMO Cooney's value has plummeted but I still feel he can get back to his best. We should go for him!
