Re: Brock McLean

Guys who from Geelong would you want for Patrick Dangerfield?

Sam Day - the ball is now in your court to satisfy the Gold Coast. Otherwise, no soup for you.

With him being contracted and all id be looking to play hardball abit and say something in the vicinity of

dangerfield and our 2nd round for menzel and varcoe

but regardless of that, i cant see danger going anywhere so i dont think we need to worry about too much discussion here

Never trade with Carlton again. Wasn't the endless dribble from their supporters enough over trade period??:p

There are enough young mids going around..Gold Coast won't be able to keep all of theirs, there are a couple of likely lads in the U18's like Wingard, Kennedy,Waldhunter and surely there are plenty of other likely types in state leagues that Rendell will have his feelers already working on.

Its going to be a couple of years before we can get anywhere near the top 4 teams so what is the point of selling the farm for a couple of mids.

Why am I concerned the current administration are thinking this way?

I doubt they are. I think it's just BigFooty fans hoping that we'll never have to put up with Carlton's BigFooty fans during trade week ever again.

We got a good deal on Jacobs, although it took all week to get there. We've traded with them many times in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

You weren't getting anything better than a 2nd rounder for Jacobs. Us throwing in a late pick was just polite.

Much like you did with Warnock.

A third string ruck who wants out...2nd rounder.

I have no issues (anymore) with how the Jacobs trade unfolded.

Given that Warnock and Mumform went for similar picks - how could we complain?

The frustration at the time was on the back of Jacobs playing a blinder of a game against Sydney in the EF and us wanting to be overly compensated for him.

We ended up getting Patrick McCarthy from that pick anyway, so that certainly went a long way to putting my mind at ease.

You never get market value for someone who said 'I want out' and they're not contracted. Ot's made even worse if their team of choice is pick 1 or 2 in the PSD.

That Sydney performance was fresh in your mind which would have made it bad, seeing the potential loss, as was Walkers Sydney performance. Shame you guys didn't want to lay them both off to us :(

Jesus I thought this Jacobs crap was over and done with. There should be a rule within the club that we're not to trade with carlton due to increased situations of stress and over-exaggerated senses of self worth.

In hindsight, I think you guys did pretty well for Jacobs. He has been a disappointment this year.

You might have sold at the top of his value.

Re: Brock McLean

Ben Kennedy anyone?

Trade Target

http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=116982
Crows recruiting manager Matt Rendell was interviewed on Adelaide radio station 5AA recently and admitted he'd love to bring the skilled left footer to his club.

But he expressed doubts the Crows would be in a position to meet the Giants' asking price for a concessionary selection, which is expected to be one or more experienced players, draft picks or a package of both.

That's quite an outlay for a young man still making his way, but the ability of young players to handle the step up in class and physicality from under-age football to senior SANFL level has always been looked upon highly by recruiters.

Kennedy has already played eight senior games for the Tigers, which has him well-placed to join AFL ranks whether it be via the GWS draft concession or next year's draft.

"From a physical viewpoint it's obviously a few steps up from where I was last year, but I've just got to try to play to my strengths," Kennedy said of playing in the SANFL after he was part of the Tigers' 2010 under-18 premiership team and the under-16 state team that won last year's carnival.

So what would you give up for him?

Our first rounder? A player? Both? Nothing?

Re: Brock McLean

GWS don't have a need for more picks, would need to be a player and a contracted one seeing as they could steal someone welse for free. Vince maybe?

I'm sure they would consider our first rounder (considering where we are likely to finish) but a player is what they would want. Vince has certainly gotten to the expendable stage.

If the offer was right then I definitely would make the trade.

I would rather keep our first round pick and trade someone like Vince for BK. He would be a top-5 draft pick, would kill for him to be in a Crows jumper.

That's true, as much as I loved Vince he hasn't been the same since 2009. If this kid is as good as they say then I say give up something reasonable for him. Problem is Port will have the same mindset & a whole heap of mature players they will be looking to offload.

Although in saying that Vince > any of Pearce, Salopek & Surjan etc

Are you serious?

Yes. Watching him get decimated against West Coast was embarrassing. He always looks like he's working really hard, while not doing much around the ground and heading the department known as "lowest clearances in the league".

Sure, he hasn't been our worst, but you'd be hard pressed to mark him much higher than a C+ for this year.

It could be something similar to the rumored Palmer deal.

They take a player (Vince, Walker, whoever), and we trade them BACK the compensation pick we'd receive to get Kennedy.

I've been saying for a few years now that we should be chasing Alwyn Davey.

I see he is back playing this week so will be interesting to see how he finishes off the year.

Reckon he would complement our forward line nicely.

Also, if Ben Kennedy is as good as every one says then I say just DO IT! In principle I really like Craigy's philosophy of not trading too often but as Crowmo use to mention it really is a necessity is this day in age.

If we don't make some hard decisions this year it could really come back to bite us in a few years time. Lets be honest we have quite a few players who are just average AFL footballers!
