Redden is a tackling machine. Would love him lining up next to Thompson, Vince and Sloane/Dangerfield in the middle (this time in crows colours - as last time he lined up next to them he smashed us).

We can only dream hey!?

If someone was looking at our club for 'potential trade tragets' who do you think they'd come up with?

My guess is that other clubs would be keen on Sloane and Dangerfield, but I think a lot ofclubs would target our key position players, as we have stockpiled quite a few. A lot of them are Victorian boys, so there's plenty of clubs that can use the "go home" factor to their advantage.

Vic posters have already assumed Danger is going home so they are preparing their second/third rounders.

A lot seem to think that Vince is a good target as well. Essendon fans are prepared to offer Monfries which is a bargain & I say we take it before they take him off the table ;)

Apart from that Talia would be of interest especially after his debut on the weekend.

Shane Tuck - hard mid we need?

Read he's going to be out of contract. We need a tough mid to give Thommo a hand - could this be the guy?

Re: Shane Tuck - hard mid we need?

No.

I don't mind the idea of McLean (been in amazing VFL form), Cale Morton (talented outside runner), Masten (talented, worth a roll of the dice), X Eliis - but not Tuck.

Re: Shane Tuck - hard mid we need?

He'd certainly be available I'd imagine, seems seriously on the outer at Richmond which has me baffled, still a good player.

Perhaps a trade involving him and Maric could be worked out, as it seems Ivan is on the outer too.

Oh, and Tuck is ten times the footballer McLean is.

Re: Shane Tuck - hard mid we need?

Yeah whether we go for Shane Tuck is debatable and an interesting thought (would probably come cheap), but I'd say he is better than Mclean.

Having said that Tuck is 29.5yrs old already. We're not exactly on the cusp of a flag.

Re: Shane Tuck - hard mid we need?

No - too old for where we're at now.

In any case I think we need to target some silky skilled outside mids. Look at the clean ball handling and elite skills of Mackay in the wet. We need more guys who can deliver the ball like that to the forward line.

Yeah agree, but might be the type we need while we get some games into the younger blokes perhaps?

Too old for where we are going. No way we would trade for a bloke that we could get for free via PSD if we were interested.

I don't mind Tuck, I honestly think he gets a Raw deal at Richmond but I don't think he is what the Crows want age wise.

I could see a St Kilda picking him up late in the draft. Would be worth a year or two at GWS Daniel Harris style.

Would consider it if he wasn't 30 at the start of next season, just doesn't suit the needs of a rebuilding club.

I was really hoping that Ablett would stay at Geelong, placing pressure on the salary cap and giving us the opportunity to coax someone out of there like a James Kelly, but that ship has well and truly sailed now.

The clubs that we really need to be sniffing around are those who have spent time at the bottom of the ladder, loaded up on draft picks and are now on their way up. Melbourne, Richmond, Carlton etc. There are good players at these clubs that are missing and/or will miss out on opportunities, and these clubs will be keeping an eye on the salary cap to ensure that they don't get stung by a stack of players hitting their peak all at the same time.

Re: Xavier Ellis

Maybe we should merge all these "<player> going out of contract. What do you think?" threads.

Jack Redden should be the first person we should be aiming at. Good, clean inside midfielder who has the potential to be a star, if hes not allready.

Maybe somebody a bit left of field but what are people's thoughts on Brent Prismall?
Hes around 24yrs old i think and plays an insid role like we need.
Ive noticed that he was named in Bendigo's best like every week before he got recalled.
I remember hearing that he was supposebly one of the best trainers during preseason, so why he wasnt playing for essendon early tells me that hes out of favour and has forced himself back in.

Good idea or is he just another average footballer that we dont need?
