Potential training breach?

It’s common knowledge you never admit to anything ever. Truly dumb club. Let them find out which would leave them nowhere.
Unless the dobbing scum bag filmed it which of course him/her did.

It’s the Adelaide Football Club - no matter what we do we get quartered and hung.

Remember the Tyson Stengle incident, we actually contacted the AFL integrity unit as soon as we were aware. The media were all upset that we didn’t tell them, that is what their issue was. They got all worked up we didn’t say anything publicly until the Friday. The AFL were informed promptly and that is all that matters, the controlling body was fully aware of it.

Unfortunately we've allowed this to happen as a club, we need to toughen up.

I must have got under that port flog dickheadimus prime' skin on that thread because he could not refute the facts i kept hitting his arguments with and he didn't like it

Trying to argue points against that crew is like trying to argue with a rock. You would get more sense out of a rock.

Apologies to all the rocks as well.

yeah, but when you put the facts up that destroy their argument like how disproportionately hard the AFL has wacked the crows over the journey in comparison to Melbourne and others who undertook worse transgressions - it is fun watching them squirm

Half the posters here got worked up over the delay.

Got to say over the journey, esp since Tippetgate, I have been more and more jaded over how we get portrayed (yes sometimes we don't help ourselves) in the Media and how we get treated by the AFL. Essendon was a huge, massive * up, yet the club actually got a number 1 draft pick from it and only paid a penalty for Admin issues, never the drugs, that was on the players.
We let a sneaky fart through and get some follow through and we cop a whack. I guess that is why I tend to be on the "defend the club" team. If we were based at the MCG no way would we be in the gun like we are. Every club makes mistakes, they are run by humans. But the treatment of our club is disproportional to the crimes compared to some golden child clubs, Hell we coped the whack for Melbourne tanking.
I'm over the AFL, I'm over the Media, I still love the crows and love the game. Bigfooty Adelaide forum and the Crows website is the only footy media I follow, and I used to watch all the shows and read all the media, But I am done.

My biggest gripe over the years is that we have lacked an Eddie Maguire or Jeff Kennet type figure at senior management that would be prepared to take the AFL on and call their bluff rather than the softly softly approach it seems that we often take - ie sorry sir, we have made a mistake and we will accept whatever punishment you want to give us.

As an aside and it is one that is oft overlooked but I remember the Rendell affair when Trigg was CEO. Demetriou essentially forced us to abandon Rendell over a comment he made that was factually correct and taken very much out of context. Trigg rolled over and within a very short time, Collingwood had taken Rendell on and there was nothing - no outcry from the AFL..nothing. So we lost a very shrewd operator in Rendell because the fking head of the AFL wanted to punish us..and yet Collingwood were the direct beneficiaries and no one says boo to a grasshopper. It is the utter double standards coming out of AFL headquarters that sh1ts me and until we get a chairman or CEO with real balls that is prepared to go the whole way against the AFL, we will always be treated as an easy target and a club to be made an example out of

That incident was the beginning of the end for our club being well run. Tippett followed soon after, the rest is history.
With footy departments getting rid of 40% of staff, surely it is an opportunity for us to grab some half decent assistant / footy people? Kelly seems smart so is a good start, Saunders & Hass seem to be going well without Burton, Fagan would be fine running a business with a competent board I think, Nicks has to be given a go.
So who else do we need? Any ideas on who we could get to replace Chapman, the rest of the Board (or at least Roo & Jamo), Smart, Hart, any of the others that aren't performing?

Agree with this completely. I don't know whether it is just because I notice the coverage of AFC more, but it certainly seems that we get criticised and punished far more harshly than any other club, even for similar incidents.

funnily enough, I wonder how a leyton Hewitt at senior board level would go - he is 100% driven and is a passionate Crow - which is a must and I think he would be the last person to walk away from a fight. Again, I don't know what his credentials outside of sport are - but you certainly can't overlook his relentless drive for success at professional level..just my 2 bobs worth

Another fanboy is the last thing we need. He would grovel all over Roo and his mates and we would be worse off.

Problem you have is that, at its heart, the AFL is really just a tinpot domestic league. Nothing has been more stark since the pandemic started. Could barely last 2-3 months without needing a bank bailout.

You’ve got maybe 3-4 clubs that are self sufficient out of 18. The vast majority are owned and operated by the AFL. No independent ownership, power resides solely with the AFL and it’s capacity to maximise revenues.

The MCG contract is a classic example - 225m of revenue they just had to take. Contrived fixtures which are all about the cash grab.

Most of the boards are controlled by the AFL anyway, so who is going to stand up to them?

The mega sporting leagues of the world have been driven by growth that will never happen here. Our attempts at growth are GCS and GWS...please.

It’s a finite, domestic league and the pandemic has laid bare its wafer thin financial operations and that of its clubs. Regardless of our board structure we will continue to kowtow to Melbourne HQ and the methods they use to drive income. It’s a socialist model and will stay that way.

The afl know others clubs have breached the covid directions and have done nothing. In a time where people never been so isloted and alone, they ban Ben Hart for six weeks from his career and collogues. This is an extremely harsh sentence. In a non covid world, it's still a harsh penalty when no gain was made or attempted. But in a covid world is negilent and breeches the vfls duty of care.

Again we just roll over and take it.

Ben harts World has been turned upside down by this paranoiademic, like everyone, he and the club were seeking no gain. This is barbaric.

Pethetic really.

Hmmm not sure about that one, but I think what we should do is look at recently successful clubs, and who they have, and try to get people that have similar CVs.
So Caro and crew know who the other clubs are that have made breaches, but refuse to name them?

Why?
You know the answer

I imagine it's in everyone's best interests to get the season started (media included) so they've collectively agreed to shut up about any breaches.

A bit like when PAFC met with the Adelaide media post Primus-ish and said if people kept potting the club and membership/sponsorship continued to dwindle that there would be half the AFL games in Adelaide and half as many clubs to talk about than there is now

So Caro and crew know who the other clubs are that have made breaches, but refuse to name them?

Why?
The two other teams most of the "talk" has been on are the Dogs and Bombers so self explanatory really.

Now if it was another team involved based outside of Victoria.....well

So now that the SA government has lifted the training restrictions does this mean commentators like C Wilson, G Lyon, Koch, Hinkley and even one of the senior AFL delegate who stated that the Crows misdemeanour didnt help with the SA Gov decision, now owe us an apology. If our actions had influenced the SA Gov's decision then we would be off to QLD this weekend. Will we get an apology ......no f**king way. Wilson has a regular spot on 5AA. Would love them to push her for a retraction of her ongoing suggestion that we were intentionally trying to get an advantage.

There is no actual evidence that they breeched anything other than someone saying well I know they were training.

We still don't know if they had videos or pictures of us training handed to them by the person who dobbed us in, so we had to admit that we did do the wrong thing.

Need to change our number plates to
