Potential training breach?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Players wouldn’t know of the details agreed with SAPOL and AFL for quarantine, Hart would’ve though. Of course players knew about the two person AFL rule, but as we can train in groups up to 10 in SA just assumed that’s fine and ticked off by authorities if Hart is directing our training session that way.
Do you really buy it though given they started out in groups of 2?
[/QUOTE]
Yep because you can kick and catch, or run laps in 2s.

I think the reasoning behind the arrangement is simple. Gives them space to train outside of their backyards without interfering with the public.

They aren’t subject to the normal quarantine rules though, the club got special provisions approved by SAPOL as outlined by Fagan. What these special provisions were is still not clear.

I understand that, but the info going around was that the club supposedly sought and was granted special permission from SAPOL for players to be training in groups no bigger than 2.

The Police may end up not taking any formal action about it, but the mail going around is that we've definitely broken more than just the AFL rules with this.

He said they cleared it with SAPOL and the AFL and admitted that the players went into two groups of 8 during parts the session, which is an AFL breach but not a state breach.

If this is anything more than a suspended fine from the AFL it is a massive overreaction. It’s not like they were deliberately flouting state quarantine laws like the NRL players.

Hart should lose his job though, what a stuff up by him.
Hart should lose his job for being a shit coach. Not this.

Wait, you’re just assuming what is being said in the media is correct? This is the word of presumably hotel staff against the club, unless there is ‘damning’ CCTV footage.

It’s the most ridiculous ‘rule’ in history.

If one of the possibilities is AFC incompetence, it's usually the safer bet.

Whether or not the rule is ridiculous has no relevance on how incompetent it makes us for breaking it/not knowing it.

If anyone was going to break the rules it was bound to be us. Not because we were trying to get an advantage but because we are led by incompetent idiots. Regardless of that this is a total non story. Like the VFL is a level playing field. **** off.

Some people just aren’t getting it. It’s not about the substance. It’s about the look at a time when AFL will be attempting to tell state governments that their players can be trusted.

Fagan’s comments putting the blame on the players are an attempt to make sure penalties are on the players and not the club.

Shouldn’t be a surprise if there are players suspended.

Prof Neil Ferguson has quit as a government adviser on coronavirus after admitting an "error of judgement".

Prof Ferguson, whose advice to the prime minister led to the UK lockdown, said he regretted "undermining" the messages on social distancing.

The Telegraph reported that a woman he was said to be in a relationship with visited his home in lockdown.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said it was "extraordinary" and that he "took the right decision to resign".

He told Sky News that it was "just not possible" for Prof Ferguson to continue advising the government.

Mr Hancock said the social distancing rules "are there for everyone" and are "deadly serious".

Thats more than a little melodramatic and is in a country with heavier lockdowns and a struggling health system. A country with about 3 times the population of Australia with a death rate of around 450 p/M as opposed to Australia's 4 p/M

I am not sure SAPOL would stipulate groups of more than 2, but not 10. As this is already permissible within SA.

The isolation rule is that if quarantined in a hotel you can not leave your room, even for food.
Our club would need to seek permission for our players to leave their hotel room.and use the other hotel facilities.

The Vic Centric media most.likely are unaware we don't have 2 person gathering limits, and have that limit set to 10. Hence the "mail" being that is what SAPOL are investigating.

No doubt we broke the stupid AFL protocol. But doubt we broke any SAPOL rules.

Some dumb footballers made an error. We dont even have any cases here. Well 1. The real problem is going to be when this country is opened up and ppl start thinking it's party time. That's when we will see clusters and potential outbreaks. This is nothing more than Vic football media trying to justify their job.

BTW a lot of hotels in the city at the moment are full.of interstate tradies working under these conditions.

Work has dried up a bit in Vic/NSW with the stricter controls there. So more than a few work crews have taken up work here.

I don't think it is easy. There has been an uproar in AFL circles about WA clubs being unable to train due to the groups of 2 rule despite their state's looser restrictions.

I don't think players are that oblivious to what is going on.

They also started out in groups of 2, before converging into a larger group. If they didn't know about the rule at all, why did they start in groups of 2 in the first place?

So yeah, I don't buy their explanation

The WA discussion was when players were still "in isolation" individually at their homes, with no set timeframe on when we were all coming back to begin playing.

Now players have been brought BACK from isolation and are getting ready to begin work. They are with their workmates and their beginning the rpocess of the season restarting.

Sure, it's still an error. But there's a vast difference between "what am I allowed to do when I'm isolated with my family" and what am I allowed to do now that I'm back from interstate and I'm with my teammates.

The hotels must also be approved by SAPOL as isolation venues.

I doubt the Novatel Barossa would allow us to break.SAPOL rules and risk losing the revenue of future isolation quarantine guests.

The hotels are.very much on top of the SAPOL rulings. These guests are essentially their only revenue stream at the moment.

We ****ed up, what else would you do.

Tell them we didn't **** up. That it was an incredibly minor error of a rule only in place to help Victorian clubs, and any punishment should mirror how minor the offense was.

So SAPOL confirm there is an investigation ongoing for potential breach of quarantine guidelines.

If we end up with a fine for a health breach I’ll be beyond disappointed.

Who will take responsibility for this? No one as usual

Nicks did on radio.

It should be whoever the assistant was, and we know who it was.
