Potential training breach?

If Rowey actually spoke to someone at the club yesterday, then it is clear they won’t take penalties that severe. To get penalties that severe would be comparing this to salary cap or drug cheating, I just don’t get how Vic media see these are viable penalties.
It's because they want to blow up a short lived, inconsequential event into a scandal to generate clicks and ad dollars

Really would have appreciated some clarity and strength from the club about this issue - which I think could have avoided both those penalties even being discussed... for example:

‘We have reprimanded the players and coach who ignored AFL protocols for training, they will each receive a $**** fine and be required to do X number of hours of community service to support those affected by COVID 19. This penalty has been determined in conjunction with the AFL, and we therefore consider the matter closed’

The question is, why didn’t the club do that? Was it because the players were under the coach’s supervision? Why let the AFL have complete control of the outcome?

Because we let them. Our chairman is a disgrace.

Players had bewn previously tested

SAPol have confirmed that the AFC have not breached SA social distancing or or isolation protocols

The drill in question went for 5 to 10 min and was a casual kick and catch woth players maintaining mpre than 2 meters separation at all time

So where is the real crime or ttaining advantage here?

Talk about sensationism

My point exactly - a strategic approach would be for AFC to impose its own penalties, effectively removing or lessening that option for the AFL.

The fact Adelaide didn’t click to that means they pretty much get what the AFL think deserve, and we all know that precedent and comparability aren’t the AFL’s strong-suit.

But the question remains - if the players acted without instruction, why would the club cop a penalty? However if the assistant coach was actively involved in the breach, then I can understand the logic for a whole-club penalty and a club-based sanction for the coach.

Nicks said this morning they were a group of 8 for about 10 minutes but were all at least 15-30m apart as it was a kicking drill. OMG how dangerous!

Mate Nigal Smart was one of the few players that were studying at Uni while Playing, he Bachelor of Arts, Believe he studied Political Science before he became a board member, Then he went on to get an MBA in Business at a later date,
He one of the few ex-players who have the qualifications to do the job.

Ben Hart differant story.
It's no secret Smart has poor management skills.

If he was half decent, he would have become our CEO, rather than pushed sideways.

No Last time we use that approach the AFL dumped on us bigger plenty, We gave up our 2012 first two picks only to be hit with 2013 first 2 picks.

One has to wonder what would have happen if we did not give up those picks.

I have a vague memory of him running for parliament for the libs after he retired

or did i dream that?
Yes, he ran for Marshall's Norwood seat, without success... then looked to get a cushy job at AFC when he failed to do so as a politician.

Line in the sand type situation. If they are too heavy.
Can handle points, but Player sanctions and draft picks are a different story,
Stripping us of points would be completely out of proportion.

Clubs have cheated the salary cap for lesser penalties.

There needs to be some perspective...

No Mate Smart did not have the experience nor the want to become CEO at the time we replace Trigg.
No, more to do with the fact he is never going to be CEO material as lacks people management skills!

If you're talking about me, I'm not outraged.

Icked out and ashamed that our COO can so casually come off as a creepy, inept baboon - yes.

But outraged, no.
Ha ha - yes I was referring to you and I apologise if I’ve missed correct context.

I wouldn’t blame anyone for being outraged though - but yeah...ick factor for sure

Stripping us Points was a wish list type plenty, ie better draft picks.
End of the Day my point still stands If the plenty is to great we need to draw a line in the sand and fight.

Stripping us of points would be what the AFL would deem as fair. :drunk:

I also bet there is a caveat with losing those points too, that if we come bottom and "win" the spoon over the Suns by Four premiership points that they get pick one.

Come on Kane. Over the last 20 years, what gives you any reason to think the AFL won't by completely unreasonable and we won't accept it.

Oh to have a well run club where there isn't this continued self imposed stupidity. Got to hand it to our so called leadership, they are doing a good job of getting rid of supporters. Basically leadership is about putting the right people in the right jobs. It's really not that hard. Our club makes the easy difficult. Although there is nothing in this story it exposes a bigger problem. The club from the chairman down has some very ordinary people running it. Leaving out our most recent appointments who hopefully are a step in the right direction if they aren't already infected by a very poor culture.

That's not the point I was making though was it. ;)

If we cop anything but a minor/suspended fine & cop it sweet, that could be the end of my AFC membership & I have attended since game 1.

Na At the Time he had no experience, in any role to become a CEO.
But the end of the day as a COO he has done a decent job, his part of the organisation is going OK,
Still lacks the experience of taking on the CEO role. but he getting there.

If this happens, I will likely walk away from the VAFL as it's being run into the ground by a privileged moron.

He will never get there as he is an incompetent manager!

No idea what utopia you are living in...
