Potential training breach?

Smart is hopeless, he has had to be sidelined as much as possible. Totally out of his depth. The fact he is still at the club says it all.

That tweet from him today is ordinary. Again its not a hanging offence as she is probably over 18 but gives an insight into the type of person he is. Not sure you want him in your workplace or around women.

In a senior position you should be setting a standard.

It will be interesting, I presume he will claim he was hacked but I don't think this behavior will surprise anyone at the club.

A Job he got After he Completed his MBA in Business at Adelaide Uni,
But we were talking about his move from Player to Board member. in 2004 not his leaving the board to take up the COO role 2013. believe he replace Mark Colson who left to go interstate.
You do understand he went from being the CEO of the Kids Charity Variety, his previous job history include
National sales and marketing manager of the Jobs Statewide Group,
National business development manager of Disability Works Australia,
Network development manager SA/NT for the Toyota Motor Corporation
Sales and sponsorship manager SA/NT for Lion Nathan Australia.
He did have the Qualification to do the COO role.

yep, a sales person.

He has been sidelined a fair bit in the last couple of years, you barely see or hear from him. It's great.

Then he does something like that.

No, My argument is The Crows Obtained approval from SAPOL to train, Which They did,
They did not break any state Rules.
Did we though? I think what’s happened is we thought we could.

The SA Police Commissioner was pretty clear that we broke self isolation rules, but that it was a genuine mistake and communication issue. Therefore we copped “education” as opposed to a fine .

Seems like the police have gotten their wires crossed a bit on this. Almost as much as us.

Yeah - if you read the quote, it appears we had no exemption at all and we should have been in our rooms.

They’ve gone very soft on us though so I’m thinking someone has gotten the idea from SAPOL it was ok to go for a run and kick in pairs, when it wasn’t ok at all.

It was something that had concerned me from the start. Why were we so special that we could avoid the self isolation law? - we weren’t, and that’s why the AFL will ream us

I feel Chapman will do the right thing and take one for the team and self isolate himself from the club for good. He's that type of guy to put the club before himself.

Lol, he thinks no one could replace him apart from a guy who unfortunately passed away. Only once he was gone was Chapman going around telling everyone that he was his successor.

That's my feeling, I also think there was an element of being a few hours out of Adelaide that made the club think they could get away with pushing the boundaries a bit.

I think we were given an exemption by someone, but we shouldn't have been and that's where the issue lies.

I mean the club thought they could go to a resort and train, they don't just think that without someone telling them they could. Even today Nicks said on Fox, the issue was the kicking in a group of 8 and that the rest of training was ticked off.

So rather than us getting whacked by them or the police owning up to a mistake which would've seen even bigger backlash, they've used the "educate" line.

I'm not sure that's the case at all.

My guess would be that Adelaide did breach regulations, but also have documented evidence of someone at SAPOL signing off on it. So the "just don't do it anymore" is a compromise to minimise embarrassment for both parties.

Does seem a bit confusing. I don’t like the idea of people escaping penalty if they’ve broken the rules. We’re in covid, everyone knows about hard isolation when crossing borders. You’ve either got an exemption or you haven’t. I’m not sure how there’s middle ground.

Yep I think that's exactly right.

Surely the police don’t have the authority to grant exemptions. They’re there to enforce the rules, not create them. Obviously the exercise discretion in terms of charging, but they wouldn’t grant that in advance and as an ongoing practice.

They are still training in pairs, they’re not confined to their rooms as other quarantine people are. I think we’ve since gotten our exemption from the appropriate authority, ie Health Dept.

Hmmm - don’t think I’d put it as high as an official exemption.

I think it’s more likely we call up PC Plod and ask if we’re able to train in 2’s as per AFL rule. We neglect to mention this is a self isolation situation. We get the all clear...hell you can go in groups of 10 if you like. Maybe it got lost that we were actually self isolating, not residents.

Then away we go. I don’t think there was ever any formal exemption, otherwise it would likely be in writing and we’d be waving it around
