Who to vote for????

5-Cousins
4-Mcdougal
3-Embers-a shame about his injury
2-Wirra
1-Glass (nice going son!)

Appologies to Cox, Jako, Staker, Kerr Collica, Huntaa and Haynes

5. Cousins
4. Embley
3. Cox
2. Wirra
1. Hunter

Top 4 were clearly best, though you can argue about the order.

The last vote could have been anybody's - I gave it to Hunter for his role in quieting Rawlings in the 2nd half, which stopped Hawthorn's only avenue to goal.

5. Cousins - 33 possies and a goal, another solid week by the team leader that leads from the front!
4. Embley - Despite the late injury, 21 possies and 8 marks. Great game by the ever-improving soon-to-be club champion.
3. Cox - What a great game by the big man in Gardiner's absence - 17 possies, 7 marks and 33 hitouts. Class stuff Coxy, keep it up!
2. Wirrpunda - 20 possies in the big 100, showed more glimpses of the silky skill he oozes. All-round another solid effort by the soon-to-be signed up eagle for 2004 and onwards!
1. McDougall -Best game yet by the emerging big man. 16 possies (13 of them being kicks) and 5 marks + a goal to top it off. Lovely stuff, keep it up Dougie Howser! Legend

Just missed out include Jacko with 14 possies and 7 marks, and Darren Glass with a great display in the second half racking up 16 possies and 5 marks.

Good effort all round in the end, well done Eagles!

McDougall 2nd best? Interesting. Haynes was crap.

I thought he stood up for us across HF. He was preety good, I reckon it was his best performance of the year. D4E thought he was amongst our best-granted I had him a bit higher up but still.
Haynes tried bloody hard all night and although he wasnt amongst our best he still deserved a mention for his endeavour!

I too thought it was his best game for the Eagles so far (by a fair margin). He was good and maybe he did deserve a vote or two. But he definately wasn't our second best player. I think think haynes played crap. I thought Banfield was good was again. Has been very consistent this year.

5. Cousins

3. Wirra

1. Hunter/ Glass/ Banners/ Kerr/Jako/Jones/Judd - but I went for Hunter for a great stopping job on the Hawks best in Rawlings.

the Hawks best in Rawlings.

IMO Angelo Lekkas was the Hawks best, he had 25 possies plus a goal and looked productive with the ball in his hands. While Rawlings may have been more dangerous he was wasteful with his opportunities and only kicked 1.4 from his 20 possies. He also held down a great 12 marks, but obviously he disposal after that was a bit dissappointing. So one could argue Lekkas was best, yet Rawlings was the most dangerous - but wasteful.

But your right in that Hunter held him beautifully in the second half, not to shabby at all and a good effort in the end ;)

Haynes was crap.

I disagree. He was played all over the ground and laid some good shepherds, blocks, layoffs and attacks on the ball. He scored a great goal and missed a simple one at the end. Not Haynes at his best but definateley far from the worst in our side last night.

I agree 100%. Hunter in NOT a key position player. He doesn't have height, bulk or body strength. Yet this is the second week Glass has been given a bath by an opposition key player (Rawlings last night and Tredrea last week) with Woosha forced to play Hunter on them. And he has done a david and goliath act both weeks. It wasn't a dominant showin a la Milli but an effor well above what could reasonably be expected of a guy his size.

As for Glass. Well ever since I saw him I considered him a thirs tall. Not KPP, and I think I'm right. Take him to half back wing and he beats opponents and rebounds well.

We need to develop a replacement for Milli quickly, persuade him to stay another year..or trade. Hawks would be impressed with Cox but would they trade for Hay

Re: Re: votes

5. Embley. Set the benchmark for mental and physical toughness again last night- his injury is a gut wrenchingly bad blow to the Eagles and him.

4. Cousins. Champion calibre game from the kapitan. Just never stopped running.

3. Wirrpunda- some sloppy disposal in the first half, basically the difference between the two sides in the second- dominated the defensive half, found ever loose ball.

2. Cox- Just worked his ass off, ran till he dropped. His ruckwork is still improving, and his around the ground possessions were on par with Gardie's.

1. Glass. Dazza continues to develop. Tough in the clinches, not afraid to get front position and mark, great when he pushes up the ground.

Maybe I shouldnt have voted so soon after the game. I was VERY impressed with Doogs and my votes obviously reflect just how impressed I was with him.
