Correct me if im wrong but i think that they give more then half their concert moeny to charity, not many celebs are that generous

They live in Ireland so they pay no tax on their earnings.

If you want someone who really puts his money where his mouth is try Bill Gates.

Poverty is a direct result of an ever increasing population on a planet competing for resources which are forever limited.

Religion; progressive taxation systems; condoms; corrupt governments; welfare; foreign aid and countless other things all play a part (silly in many cases) in either reducing or increasing the problem. None will ever eliminate it.

Most of it comes down to Darwin's theory.

Isn't charity tax dedecuatble in the US?

perhaps not the best example rofl

Not so sure, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is world wide organisation that has an annual budget of 800 million thanks to Warren Buffets donation of shares which are in place to match any money others put in.

Is it possible that the governments take the money that has been given for aid or do the organizations take care of it.

Yeh your right, theres no real industry in all the african countries. maybe richer countries could help out with that, not really sure how but.
Why don't you go away, do some research, and come back. All you've done is shot your mouth off with ill thought out ideas.

Here's a start:

1. Why would countries spend their money on this when they need money for the own country - and the bottom line is keeping themselves in power. And don't bother with the "spend the money they're spending now on aid on industry - because it's much more expensive.

2. If countries won't do it on their own violition (tip: they won't because they aren't), how can they be forced?

Like everyone else who shares your fanciful unrealistic ideals, you will ignore the first two questions. So then you can answer these:

1. What industry will be set up?
2. How will people be skills trained?
3. What industries should be set up?
4. Who will buy or use the goods and services created by these industries?
5. And where will they get the money to buy the G&S created from these industries.

And some more:

6. Do you actually realise how much this would cost?
7. And how can Western countries go in and set up this when there's possibly a dictator who won't allow it? Another Iraq? Know how much that costs without any oil to pay for it?

Whoever told you you are smart was lying.

Geez you are a visionary arent you, Australia, the U.S and other wealthy countries havent been the productive powers forever, they obvioulsy started somewhere, forgive me for thinking that africa could aswell with a little help. Every country has some kind of industry they could feed of, i doubt that Australia happened to stumble on uranium and other minerals like coal , they put money into research and they were rewarded, if african countries that are actually willing to change want assistance in that regard im pretty sure that there are enough countries and organizations that are willing to help out. Finally training people wont be as hard as you say it will, if enough people are willing to donate their time they could train enough people, look how many people go africa to teach, im sure that enough people will help out.

Geez you are a visionary arent you,
Nope, just a dude who has the ability for rational thought process. They are simple questions that anyone of average intelligence would ask themselves when think about such an issue.

Geez you can detect sarcasm from a mile away cant you. The people that are going to but the products are the ones who have jobs, and people are going to get jobs if there is more industry. secondly the industry will be set up if the governments actually want change, somebody like Morgan Tsvangiria would be definetly be in favour of it. As i said you arent going to stumble across minerals you are going to have to search and then you will reap reaps, Its give and take Bunsen burner, perhaps you should dig abit deeper into your pocket and give more. i probably should put the answers in order but you seem smart enough, this plan shouldnt apply to countries like the so called democratic republic of congo, give it to governments who promote peace, perhaps ethiopia or zimbabwe when mugabe dies. I dont actually know what GnS is, perhaps you can help out with that. There i answered your questions.

Truthfully, is this some kind of "There's something about Miriam" thread? really?

No you didn't. Particularly the first 2. Did you note when I said "you won't answer these 2"? You guys are all the same.
I answered them, i said that training people to mine wouldnt be hard, ofcourse mining is a example, training people isnt going to be as hard as you say it will be. and to the first question, why did australia donate 1 million dollars to the countries that were hit by the tsunami? Answer that question please.

Because it was a disaster that was an "act of God". But they haven't donated to Africa so what's your point?

Got to do better than that sunshine.

Sorry it was 1 billion dollars, why would they give 1 billion dollars to a country like indonesia who just wants to invade us, there goes your theory of wanting to stay on top. It was a act of god for many reasons, lets say one being so that people will be more genourous and donate, why cant they be more genourous and give money to africa, there goes the ''act of god'' arguement your hiding behind. You dont want to donate to african kids and you most certainly dont care if africans are sleeping hungry, so dont use the Act of god argument as your defence.

DO they?

there goes your theory of wanting to stay on top.
What are you on about? Where did I say this?

It was a act of god for many reasons, lets say one being so that people will be more genourous and donate,
:confused::confused::confused::confused:
Are you on crack?

why cant they be more genourous and give money to africa,
Because they have better things to spend money on. Particularly things that will win them election. And also things like education and health for us.

there goes the ''act of god'' arguement your hiding behind.
Err champ, think you're a bit out of your league here. You're not talking to a bunch of 15 year olds.

You dont want to donate to african kids and you most certainly dont care if africans are sleeping hungry,
No I don't.

so dont use the Act of god argument as your defence.
:confused::confused: You don't even know what an act of God is. Go ask someone.

Once again you run your mouth off before do the required research.

Well you cant blame me for trying.you wrote this, so he we are..
''Why would countries spend their money on this when they need money for the own country - and the bottom line is keeping themselves in power. And don't bother with the "spend the money they're spending now on aid on industry - because it's much more expensive''.
And considering you epitomise holliness, can you please tell me what a act of god is. you also said they have better things to spend money on, like what 40 million dollars on a swimming event that ended up being a flop.

Haven't discovered Google yet?

Precisely my point - although I don't think you can see it. So I'll point it out to you:

If a Govt would rather spend 40m on a swim meet than helping out Africa (and there 1000s of similar examples), and that we have never given Africa any money other than token aid, how do you expect this to change? They are not ging to change on their own violition (big word, look it up) so the only other way to make it happen is to force them. If this is the case then how can they be forced?

I see your point, but please dont patronise me by saying stupid things like look this word up, look up that word up, im 15 but im not stupid ok.

You do need to be patronised though. Why? You come on here, tell everyone that you're smart, present an ill educated argument, and proceed to argue with much older, smarter, and wiser people (some of who have seen this argument 100 times and know how it ends).

And after failing to do your research the first time, fail to learn from it and do it again by not bothering to look up what "act of God" means.

If you're half as smart as you claim to be (well a quarter because you made out you were some sort of intellectual podium finisher), you'll go away and learn something from this.

You stupid old fart, i started this thread seeking answers, go to the start, i asked why is there still poverty. i never said i had the answers, i was arguing why this is the case and i was getting good responses. Also i never came here saying i was smart, i merely said my IS teacher told me i have alot of knowledge, i dont care if alot of men have seen this arguement 100 times, the fact remains i havent seen this 100 times i have seen it once, so at least i can take something from this thread. I havent looked up what a act of god means because different people interpret it in many different ways, so please tell how you intepret ''an act of god''.
