This Friday I'm going to festival hall in Melbourne to see Powderfinger and Something for Kate. I was wondering if anyone has seen Powderfinger live? As I'm taking along the other half.(ie she wanted to go to the concert, but with SFK playing I don't mind going) Some of their song's are alright but a bit soppy. Pity it wasn't Bleach boys eh lioness!!! (very tongue in cheek):p

ive seen them twice live at two different big day outs

the first one (the 99 bigday out) Powderfinger played the single most boring set ive ever seen...they actually got booed off stage as they also decided to go 15 minutes over and that cut Korns set to only 45 mins. Very boring

the second one was this years Big Day out....and it was marginally better but still completly boring. The songs are too slow and boring....and the singer trys way too hard to be micahel hutchence.

Im going tomorrow night, and really looking forward to it
i love powderfinger and have been waiting for a long while to see them live

i have seen SFK live, but it was a number of years ago, with their old bass player, and thought they were pretty ordinary, their music has improved though

Saw them at the ANU in Canberra last year and enjoyed it. They're never going to be a head-banging band Macca, wouldn't have thought they'd be a BDO crowd pleaser there.

They are a good band to see live, though. They play their music well onstage, which you can't say about a lot of bands.

there are lots of bands that arent headbanging bands that get a good rap at the big da out - resin dogs is one. But Powderfinger were shocking...especially in 99....you at least expect them not to put the crowd to sleep

I saw them upstairs at the Geelong Hotel (before Double Allergic) crammed in with about 250 or so people with Pollyanna as support. Cool gig.

Also saw them at the '96 BDO opening up on the main stage. It was at 11am, there was probably the same 250 people standing around the left stage (basically nobody there) and they played the coolest set. Apparently, their gear had been stolen the night before and they had to borrow Snout's gear (i think it was Snout). They played all of their cool old songs. (you know, the ones that were actually interesting.)

What a shame they discovered Triple M.

i saw them on recovery one saturday morning and thought they were pretty good....the next time i heard them was this slow boring whiny rubbish.
Their old old old stuff is soooooo much better than the newer slower boring whiny sleepy crap.

Saw Powderfinger at the BDO (Melbourne, 2001) and dead set I nearly fell asleep standing up. They sound boring as batpoo when played on triple M every 5 minutes, but I couldn't believe they were even worse live!!!

And don't get me started on Something For Kate! If I knew the way to pop stardom was to wail into a microphone like you'd stubbed your toe..

I'm waiting to see what he's got up his sleeve for an encore (it's in bad taste but dammit I think they are/were both whiny prats).
