WHY is he out???

The other changes were as predicted.

he hasn't really done too much the past bunch of matches... doesn't get to the ball as much, isn't their as backup and i guess over all hasn't played aswell as he did in the first few weeks. funny, when he WAS playing well, the whole team did well... when he doesn't play well, the rest of the team does badly...

****,****,**** and ****.
Ok, calmed down a little now :p
Powell must be either injured, or missing a game or 2 to manage his injury this year. I think it must be the second option, as he has been training, and as such it would be a set plan from the start of the year, at least I hope so anyway.

Well.......give me a cigar and call me monica. that is just.........well......OH MAN! but still Arma comes in and also Vards and umm LAMB! god he is on one of his last chances. 4 years and hasnt done much. **** these guys better do well on saturday. i really dont know what to say. he hasnt been setting the world on fire with his form, but really he hasnt been the worst.

As for the rest of the side, Green is lucky to remain, as is Robbo, Chelli and J.Macca IMO.

With that J.Mac, Walsh and possibly Woey are set for tagging roles in the midfield. The backline is on the short side, in a big way, if that makes sence. It will be interesting to see if Bruce does play in defence on Schell/Stevens/whoever.

I am happy Lamb is getting his go, and both he and Broady will add height to defence if needed.

I'm still ****ed off about Powell but what can you do. Also Wheatley has been out for some time, I was hoping he would be back this week (and ND gave the impression that he would) but alas he hasn't. I'm now hoping he plays for Sandy this week and is back in time for Essendon next week.

i hope you're right!!!

actually, i do remember them saying that they'd only play him ever 2nd game for this season just to ease him into playing senior footy again... but that hasn't really happened.

maybe they're resting him so he's 100% for the upcoming weeks??

I'll be interested to see if he plays for Sandy. I doubt they'd be resting him either coz we just had a week off:confused:

Could also be discipline i spose???

If we lose a tight 1 & Armstrong goes kickless, Daniher will be lynched & I'll lead that mob! Gutsy decision & it had better work!

Agreed about Green & Robbo, very lucky to remain! Not a fussed about the other 2 really.

Wheatley's gotta be back for the Essendon game or we're stuffed!

Pleased Arma is in. I must have inspired him with my quick words of inspiration at the aftermatch!

Powell has been bloody useless the last two weeks. In saying that I am still shocked he was dropped but obviously the coach is suggesting that we are not going to put up with anymore crap.

Shame Wheatley did not come up, great that Vards is back though. Maybe he can do what the Wiz did against us!

Well, Powell has got to be unlucky or injured. How a player we have missed so much be dropped after two bad ones is beyond me. We can't be resting him as we had a week off.

Robbo, Green and Leoncelli should be dropped waaaaaaaaaay befoe Powell, but seeing as we make stupid decisions down at Demonland all the time, this one does not surprise me. BT, I will join u in that mob!!

And just to clarify......for the people sitting with me during the game, u will witness Steve Armstrong copping a pasting, and I don't care what supporters say. He is a prick, and he will cop a serve from me, which will only be helped by the beer in my system. Your days are numbered Armstrong!!!!

glad to see armstrong back in the squad aswell as vards. not to happy about powelly being dropped coz last time at optus against West Coast, he did well. I really hope Wheatley's back for the Essendon game aswell :D

I was amazed to see that Powell was out

In my view he and Yze are your best midfielders and he always plays well against us.

Him missing out covers us missing K Johnson I reckon

Do you think that some players get much more protection from selectors than others.

From what I have read for instance D Schwarz has not done much this year, which is something that the stats back up

Powell is averaging 19.2 posessions 3.11 marks and 0.66 gpg

Schwartz is averaging 11 possies 2.6 marks and 0.9 gpg

I know you can't really compare a forward with a midfielder but it seems "name" players get much more protection

I am sure this is the same at most clubs, but I was very happy to hear POwell was out, and personally I would prefer him to be out than Schwartz.

Comments?

hes gooooone

hmm... i'd never really thought about that too much, but i'd have to say you're right!
there's NO WAY they'd ever even think about dropping schwarta, yet they could drop powell, who's been doing better than quite alot of others.

now that i thnk about, they'd never ever drop schwarta... its just unthinkable! i think that maybe he has got the big name, reputation and great presence, so they just couldnt every drop him.

also, powell WILL be playing with sandy this week... there's an artical on the demons site.

No Powell is a bonus for us Crows. :)

Schwarz does things that don't show up in stats, but he does seem to live off his name a bit.

very true!!! he keeps players away from the ball, and ****es off as many players as he can... which i must say is fun to watch...

He also contests boundary throw ins in the forward line, allowing Jeff White to play a kick behind the play.

Having said that, I'd love to see McGregor or Crowell run off him tomorrow.

I hate to say it, but our good Ox may well be past it. He has been a grand servant of the club, but he just can't hold down CHF forward anymore. While he is good in ruck contests around the forward line, these days he doesn't do much else. He doesn't hold his marks and is too slow, which is unfortunate.

The problem is, we don't have anyone else to play CHF really. We need to recruit someone who can.

oy!!! just coz he's fat so cant run and doesn't get much of the ball!!! (doesn't sound too good does it?) doesn't mean you gotta bag him! :p nah, he is a great guy and player, and he does help out quite a bit. hes got a few more in him still!

of course he does! he is the ox!
look i am disappointed that powelly isn't playing as he is one of my favourites too watch but he obviously wasn't in form and the reality is he was spending too much time on the bench! the decision is temporary and i would expect to see him back for the essendon game!

Y'all are spot on about the Ox I reckon. He's hanging in there, just.
On Rex's footy show this morning they asked MFC about him and they said that despite him not getting much of the ball, he does many other things that go unnoticed that make him a vital part of the team. Ruck contests and showing his overall strength.
Still, I think he has to lift, might very well be his last year.

Yeah, I have to agree with that. While he may do those things, we need him marking and kicking goals as well!

Ox is on his last legs, he isn't doing enough to stay at CHF (struggles to take a mark). With Neitz, Jolly, White and co. able to handle the throw in's I'm not too sure how long Ox has left.

I'm hoping he can regain the form he had in the Bulldogs game (where he turned back the clock with 3(??) goals) but I'm not too sure if he will be able to.
