Nah, he was still in there quite a bit. Only Steele and Crouch attended more centre bounces than him overall.

Think he was playing a defensive roll but he still needs to get his hands on the footy more as he did in the first half.

Just seems to be a common theme for him to fade out of games in the second half.
I was at the game and Bytel seemed to looking after Shiel a fair bit

I did mention to my daughter that it looked like RTB was educating both Bytel and Clark when on the ball as they were on Shiel & Parish a lot of the time

Bytel, how did we see his game? I'm not sure about him, looked ok here and there, he's really got to make it happen this year.

First half he dominated. Not sure if he tagged or just went to crap after that.

My favourite part was when we were 30 odd points up and David King started going on about how Essendon were more advanced than us and would finish ahead of us this year

To be fair, I think he was trolling the Bombers fans.

Parish had a mare.

Nobody who pulled on a Wests guernsey could ever lay claim to being as strong as an ox. Weak as piss that bunch. Joji included. Kiti could play though.
I played league in Perth. For Applecross.

We see it so much we tend to over look him, but Wilkie was huge in defence again today. It looks like he has been encouraged to provide link up run out of defence, he is such a good user and drags his opponent out of their comfort zones. Hopefully over time RTB can encourage Dougal to start going for marks again. I hate seeing double handed spoils when the ball should be marked - it just says the player is not backing himself enough.
The guy is an absolute jet. Reminds me of Rampe, who never got the plaudits but would have been in my 22 All Aus team.

Collingwood and Richmond had pretty decent hauls. Hawks and Crows look okay too.

Daicos is a freak and Gibcus, Sonsie and Judson Clark are a nice lot. Rachele is already looking top shelf and Soligo is highly rated. Dogs got a free hit at Darcy too.

We got our best haul in years though.
Yep I think overall haul ours is the best out of that lot

As I said though, early days

He was so good, i thought he and Battle worked really well together

not getting to carried away Essendon are a 12 -15 side

No doubt, he has played that role a lot too

But there isn’t a lot of room for a tagger that can’t still win the footy these days

And he was still able to find the footy in the first half. Just like he has before when he’s played similar roles.

I can’t see how he ever becomes an AFL kid if he keeps dishing up sub 20 disposal games.

Butler looked dynamic today.

I thought it was a really solid performance.

Besides the injuries, everything you’d want from a pre-season hitout.

Difficult conditions - we handled them.

Limited coast-to-coast goals, means our defensive structures held up.

I tipped Marshall to be the player that Ross could turn into a superstar and be the guy that would benefit most from being coached by him and he started well today. He’s like an extra mid. Injury free and he’ll be a beast.

Very promising from Mitch as well.

Overall, really promising start by us. We look like a controlled team again instead of headless chooks. This group will respond well to being coached properly.

Howard looks like he's struggling under Lyon.

Are you talking about Wests in Perth as we always had a strong front row even if we weren't the best team.

Our first choice front row back in the 90s was a bunch of ex Otago front rowers who were insanely strong, me and Joji were the back up front row.
