The ref had no control over the match and you could see it with the escalation in the tackles flying in. He was clearly in over is head.

Good day at Suncorp, decent crowd and not a bad atmosphere. Both sides well represented. Some good signs from some of the new players. Ref really was poor, don’t think either penalty would’ve been paid in PL. And dirty tackle from McGinn on a kid. Clear payback from an innocuous foul Gray had on Buendia a few minutes earlier.

Was wondering if any of our Leeds contingent would get along, good to see someone fronted up.

The ref was rubbish, blowing up on 90 without adding the extra time . We we're in the leeds end behind just to the side of the goals so had a great view of the penalty save.

It was actually a young guy in the Villa end who blew a whistle on 90. He was making it known as well. Players stopped then ref was yelling to restart. Then he blew too earlyanyway. Considering Gray was stretchered off was puzzling only 2 mins added. But agree the ref was very poor.

Archie Gray went in for a studs up slide tackle and potentially could have really injured the Villa player. Patrick Bamford‘s challenge was intentional and we can all see that. Just mentioning those two because no one else wants to.

The tackle on Archie Gray was for a ball that was there to be won, with the Villa players studs being down. It’s bad luck that Archie Gray got injured.

Horrendous by Gray here

I personally prefer this one, where Archie Gray is flying in from a mile away with no regard for the Villa player who will get to the ball first.

It was a dirty match and Leeds players have to take their share of the responsibility.

Gray got the ball, McGinn didn’t care about the ball.

I felt McGinn was going for the ball too and was incredibly unlucky. I think different people will have different interpretations of it.

It’s sounding like an ankle sprain, so that’s the good news out of it. The match was pretty spiteful so can only imagine what the league fixture will produce.

Except Gray got the ball first.

So that makes the intent ok? It's why one of the laws of the game is about reckless challenges, regardless of whether any contact is made. It's the intent.

If you fly in two footed, or stamp towards a player's ankle but take the ball cleanly, it's still an offence.

Not sure if you realise it's the same tackle, Gray cleared the ball, and Buendia only hung his foot in to milk a fk?

Bamford's was petulant, needs to drop that from his game.

Gray did neither of those things, slid into the tackle and got the ball first, his intent wasn’t to take the player out. McGinns stamped on Grays lower leg, you can judge for yourself what his intent was.

The Buendia vs Gray one was almost a foul on Gray, he got in first and was stood on by Buendia.

McGinn vs Gray? Red from VAR all day…Turned with his studs up, missed the ball and went straight through him.

It’s the same tackle lol, the other angle clearly shows he got the ball first and was neither out of control or dangerous, he was the one that got stood on…

You can see in that video his eyes are only for the ball, his intent is to win it and move it. Which he’s entitled to do in a controlled manner.
