its just stupid

A wing can set up anywhere along the side of the square, so whats stopping them setting up at the oppo teams goal side and just running as the ball is bounced to be an extra man behind the ball?

instead of it being a 5-6-7 it will just be 6-5-7, plus a forward can just steam into the square as soon as the ball is bounced to even up the midfield

pretty funny that article is actually written to make it out like the tigers are ****** when in reality its going to make zero difference
Is it stipulated where the wingman can stand during centre bounces ? Forwards/backs/mids all have there zones but is there anything stopping wingers standing defensive side of the square then running inside the 50 as soon as the ball is bounced.
If that’s allowed we’ll push Rance on to the wing during centre bounces and he’ll run back into back half as soon as the ball is bounced creating an extra defender. He reads the ball into the back 50 as well as anyone

tho an obvious oppo tactic would be, if have a dominant ruckman, is to have their wingmen hanging by the sides unattended, then their ruckman tries his best it bash it to the sides instead of forward.

Yes, although correct me if Im wrong, wasnt all the fan fare and hoopla about this bullshit rule to do with stacking the defence late in the game to try and save it? In which case, my theory is simply showing the rule will do absolute nothing to stop sides being able to have 8 players inside defensive 50 late in games if they want. Obviously I doubt sides would consistently set up that way and leave opposition wingmen free otherwise the ruckman will do exactly what you said

CD's raw data is brilliant. Their rankings and ratings shouldn't be taken any more seriously than amateur analytics like the squiggle.

Mr Squiggle ???......

think 666 applies to centre bounces (start of quarters + after goal) only....around the ground ballups....anyfing goes i think...which to me would enable short people like Rioli/ Bolton to errr ruck....while we stack players behind them.....ie. Lynch doesn't have to risk his 7m knees...

Jack Ross (27) looking good, doesn't give up. I put the number there because as I was watching I said who the f*** is number 27 now

Looks like a bull

Also liked the bit where RCD was being tackled but stood up in the tackle and still got the handball off - looks strong af through the core.

Judging by the footage, BEllis is getting down and dirty this preseason, either that or hes banging the video girl

yeah thats right

6-6-6 is useless as soon as the umpire bounces the ball and is even more useless as soon as it's stack's on the mill and the umpire calls for a bounce.

The player having to start in the goalsquare is just mind boggling as the ball never gets there from the centre break plus he will leave the square the moment the umpire bounces the ball, just utter stupidity from the AFL.

One of the more stupid rule changes that i feel will be abolished by either the bye rounds or the finals or even straight after JLT.

All designed to stop players rushing the centre square so Danger can run away like Judd, longest ground in the comp and the largest distance from the 50m line to the centre square belongs to Geelong and who has been most vocal on these changes...yes Danger has so he can burst away like Judd without anyone charging at him from front on.

Dangers going to become an AFLX specialist so he can run out of the launch zone kicking 10point zooper goals. Plus double points in the last 5 mins as the Gatorade go to man. Dangers gonna be the first AFLX hall of famer.

Dustin is impressive in the video.
Hopefully, he can recapture the spontaneity and flow of the 2017 season.
The team probably became a little stale last year, they started to over think, and became reactive.

crazy how last year the footy world was already treating hawkforn like underdog minnows. i mean they are minnows but no one should be wanting them to win a flag for decades
Clarko has em all duped / mastercoach pffftttt
Good coach sure but media desperate to pen more ‘Clarksons latest master move’ line....

Damn he's a solid unit. Goes in hard and repeat efforts. I like that.

Dunno who the kid was that tackled Dusty, and Dusty just kept running, but he just got a lesson in needing more strength and to tackle with his body more.

Clubs will not leave a player unattended on the wing as it will just give the opposition an easy uncontested entry into the F50. Having a forward charge into the midfield is also unlikely to happen as much as it will automatically give the opposition 1-2 loose in D50 with that happening.

I've said for a while now that the new starting positions will have an impact on us and the numbers are starting to back that up. As shown in the article today, we used the 2 extra behind the ball for the majority of the year and it was because of this we didn't concede a score from opposition clearances. With 6-6-6 this will definitely change for the following reason.

In 2018 we ranked 5th for centre clearances but we ranked 3rd for opposition centre clearances, meaning that the opposition win more than we do. Without the safety blanket of the 2 defensive players coming off the back of the square opposition clearances are more of a chance of entering the opposition F50 meaning our back 6 are going to be under more pressure. So it becomes important that we improve our defensive clearance work and I can see why we recruited Mav Weller to give us another big bodied midfielder to put into the square at centre bounces, which I don't think will go down well with a lot of fans.

The other major issue is the second ruck option. As much as people keep saying Lynch won't play in the ruck, I don't see any other viable option without making us too top heavy as I don't see us playing Jack Nank Lynch and another ruckman as it will be too much of a change from the set up we have used the last 2 years.

Not so negative as you.

666 can be easily overcome in most situations. But yes, it will change things a bit if teams get clean usage out of the middle. Lynch is good for 66 as he creates that extra mismatch. On the ruck thing, it sounds like the club acknowledges the issue. We just have to work out the best way of dealing with it. Soldo is my immediate obvious inclusion. If he can smash bodies and win taps, and not be a disadvantage around the ground then all good. Maybe if CCJ has really developed fast then he would come in as a good footballer who can manage well as second ruck. It's really about neutralising the ruck problem, whilst keeping the around the ground pressure on. Nank is a weapon in that regard, so we start ahead. It's just having someone else to fill a role.

If youre referring to the one near the end, it was Baker

will need someone to tap it to him first .... and even if he gets it as if he'll hit a target ....
