Norf just match up perfectly against us to exploit our weaknesses.

3 tall forwards (two of who always play well against us) exploits Chaplin and our third tall back. Chappy gets no help and can't help others while Batch was left one out with Waite too much.

Dominate athletic ruck negates obliterates Maric at ruck contests and around the ground.

Plethora of hard inside nuts exposes Cotchin and Miles as our only two genuine inside players. Further killed by Goldstein tapping it down the throats.

Our 7 man defense means we are one short in attack. Hansen thrives as a loose tall and picked off our long bombs constantly. Our poor awarness when going into f50 doesn't work against a team with a dominate tall loose defender.

Our poor to average pressure in attack is exploited by Norf who love to attack from the HB line.

A small, skillful and fast player like Brett Harvey constantly cuts us up.

Overall I'm not sure any team in the league matches up as well against us as Norf. That is further highlighted by the stat they never score below 100 points against us yet we've pretty much held every other team below that threshold in last 2 years.
Spot on, except for the one correction I made.

Goldstein's dominance of Ivvy is one of the main reasons we can't beat Norf. He gives his meatgrinders first use, which makes it doubly hard for Cotch and co to win clearances, which makes it hard to isolate defenders and keep Hansen out of it. Snowballs from the centre bounce.

We are the ones who must do the ruck negating against Norf. Ivan can't do it.

Hampster, here's looking at you, kid.

Unless he can build a tank and increase his engine to play midfield as well he wont make it as just a foward, The days where just playing hff/fp are finished and at 190cm he needs to be able to rotate through the middle and without pace - He needs yo learn to play inside
He has the size and the hands to be a good inside player I reckon.

Or play to lose the ruck contest and defend the clearance. Try tackling blocking and smashing the opponents mids.... if only we tackled

This us why our tackling stats hurt us. Its fine not to tackle when you are dominating the ruck and clearances but when you are getting smashed in the guts you need the skill and ability to adjust and we can't do that yet

wish i had $1 every time Norf run the ball from def 50 to Goal against us. they constantly beat us this way
While we need to have another speedy player to help with this, but it is an indictment on the existing players including Lids, Dusty etc that we aren't better at this.

I would've played Hampson v the roos last year. Maric is on his last legs particularly v the really tall and jumpy rucks. Put it this was, I would say he would've at least performed the same as Maric. We need a horses for courses philosophy now.

Watching the mids video and gee Cotch looks the goods. Pity he gets tagged out of the game which as an indictment on his team mates as much as the AFL for allowing this negating to occur. Try do that vs a fwd and watch as the bowl goes back over your head

it wouldn't have happened when Jacko was in the team, just about guarantee he would have been blocking and crashing into Jacobs and every stoppage.

It's an indictment on him, gun players still work through tags, regardless of how much help team mates give them

To an extent I agree. But how would you like to go out there every weekend and have someone hanging off you while trying to play footy? Wouldn't be easy physically or mentally I'd imagine

The team as a whole needs to be reminded of these sorts of efforts.

Absolutely spot on! I'm not cutting Cotch slack, we have absolutely no campaigner in our midfielders. You watch Hawthorn and see what happens to any player scragging one of their prime movers. This for me is an non negotiable.
