Training Pre-season 2019

He can afford to feel his way through his next 16 games i think. The expectations change for a 50 gamer. If those games are 16 in a row I think he'll end up being great. If those games are broken up over the next two years in fits and starts I think he'll be fighting an uphill battle

This is his 5th season on our senior list so my expectations are probably higher than what I would have for a kid in his first 2-3 years.

Right on the cusp of the season and they send Fyfe into surgery for......... Oh, wait

I love how he acknowledged that he has been dealing with the elbow issue for a while but decided he had to keep his commitment to the AFLX concept which is why he waited until after Friday night to consider surgery.

If there's any issues with the surgery or delays caused by it, then Freo fans will have every right to be mighty annoyed at both Fyfe & the club for allowing him to play the mickey mouse game rather than actually preparing for the season proper

If you're counting years you're not counting opportunities. If you're not judging him on his opportunities, you're not taking advantage of our opportunity to possibly see him develop into a player.

My hope is the same. He gets fit by the end of the pre-season, then he plays a good block of at least 4 VFL matches. Hopefully, at the end of that, he'll be both fit and in some vein of form. IF he comes into the senior team, I hope he's told to play as a pocket/half forward, aim for around 12-15 touches but tons of defensive pressure. Plus some spells through the middle. In other words, reasonable expectations that he should easily achieve.

If he can't do that, or breaks down again, alarm bells are going to start going off. He hasn't shown anywhere near enough to deserve endless retention on the list. He's not even a proven senior player yet.

Nah, Caddy thought he was staying, even bought a house.
Once we really wanted Delidio but couldn't afford him and his name was thrown out there in a trade it was really easy for Richmond to get in his ear with Prestia, Caracella and Balme joining.
On our side we didn't give a shit that much as he was a bit of a dick and lazy on the training track so didn't drive a really hard bargain.
That's all there was to it.

Not to you, but that really is a hindsight comment. Prior to him leaving he was our “contested bull”. Remember that phrase? The opinion of him switched 180 degrees as soon as he was traded. There was never a whisper about him being lazy before then.

I’m not sure that the opinions on supporters count too much on whether he was needed or not needed.

What was very evident was that the coaches couldn’t find a role for him in the midfield that year. There was clearly dissatisfaction with his inability to break into the midfield and subsequently (on his part) - being shoehorned into the forward line.

If someone has commented on Hawkins from the AFLX then I must have missed it but he looks in unbelievable shape. It is by far the slimmest I have ever seen him. On track for a big year if he stays fit I think.

All the better I say. Love seeing him on his bike and getting up the ground to take a mark. Always a good kick forwards too. Wish we had 2 of him, one up the ground and one anchored in the 50.

2016 GF has just ended - both Caddys attended - together bumped into B Gale - the older brother said to Gale - Josh is restless - hed love to be playing for the Tigers - in a throw away line - Gale said that neither Caddy rubbished Geel as a club

When Deledio requested a trade to Geel - because his parents live on the Coast - Gale went to Balme and the recruiting staff and mentioned the chance social meeting he had with both Caddys at the GF - and what was said - thats it

Bottom line - Caddys no loss - how did he go in last years PF - he also lucky hes got Reiwoldt next to him
