Mitch Edwards is a very good athlete with the talent to surprise, and the extra spot on the bench now that the sub rule has gone should provide him with opportunity

I don't see the extra player on the bench being used like that at all. I think Scott will double down on the running power even more. Only need to look at our draft picks. We are tooling up for the turbo charge.

For the obvious reasons I wish it was Toby, but I think it may be Nick Driscoll.

☹️

Now that I'm not on my phone and using a bigger screen, I believe you're right

I'm with you

No point running an extra fresh ruck when your mids have to run higher game time than the oppo.

Agreed he had some moments of impact and that’s what he has become, a low possession impact player who plays in small bursts in the middle. But “rely on him?” Far from it. I think you are having a bit of a recency bias from the prelim with this one.

To go back to our first final win over Brisbane, he got 19 touches 0 goals to his name. The team was led by smith Holmes Dempsey and then a fairly even collective effort.

I can’t think of any games we relied on him at all, besides an argument for the prelim effort.
Prior to the GF, THE most important game of 25.
And without Danger, probably a Hawks Lions GF.

Mitch is the most talented ruck we have drafted in many years but he lacks body strength to ruck at afl level yet and has no endurance. With our capacity to have neale be 2nd ruck to support sdk theres no need to waste a bench spot on Edwards playing half a game, better we get more runners.
When Edwards can ruck 80 % of the game then he can come in (which will allow sdk to return to the backline) but for now he should develop his strength and endurance in the vfl.

Hear me out … Ollie Dempsey, with all his attributes (goal smarts, running power, incredible leap) being mentored by GAJ… could Ollie end up as a premier mid in our team? View attachment 2492161
He does have the smarts and agility. His contested game may not be strong enough, but there are also the Nick Daicos style contested possessions (reading the game and sharking then evading), and those are what Dempsey could emulate. Worth a try even if it's just at 20-30% of stoppages to start with.

Just think Brisbane is a better team. Beaten us 4/5 last games now. Just simply a better side to do that.
It may have been mentioned in previous posts....what's the opinion that after the lions dismantled the cats in the minor round, we had to respond after that dissapointment. All sides know each other's games its just a matter getting your game right and nullifying the opposition's ?
The lions knew how to play the cats, goes a long way in beating them.
After the cats broke down the lions in week 1 , it was just a matter of the lions resetting and responding, which they did in the gf.
Ifs buts and candy nuts, if the cats had have played the second half like there games vs the hawks and lons from the other two finals the result may have been the same but closer or cats victory.

I have put forward that he be a connor rozee midfield type but from the looks of it he's maybe the next dusty

I think history has shown its a huge advangage as well getting a side again in finals who you lost to previously. Its no cooincidence that the side who lost first ends up winning more often the GF.

It allows alot more analysing and picking apart went wrong and things to improve on.

We can all pick apart probably a handful of obvious weaknesses with geelong... Brisbane have none. They have made 3gfs in a row for a reason and lost the first one by a very narrow margin... They are a very good side.

We are an elite coached side, brisbane is an elite team
