Be handy to have Lalor twice.
Best 23 is difficult to predict, given we have the older players and young players. I can see us starting the season with the older players all playing, by the end our best 23 might be quite different. Its still going to be another transitional season for our team.
I have a weird feeling about the 26 season
Something tells me that our experienced players are going to have a great season
Lynch , Hopper , Taranto , Vlastuin , Short , Broad and even Prestia
Not so sure about Nank with the ruck rule changes

Would love that to be right, i think it goes the other way though. We play all of Nank, Prestia, Hopper, Taranto in the middle round 1 and get flogged by Carlton. We slowly change the best 23 throughout the season to a younger team and finish the season much stronger.

Lalor named twice?
The only way we will have a 'terrible' season is if we are struck down really badly with injury again. 2024 and 2025 have been absolutely horrendous from an injury standpoint.
In 2025, here are the players I regard as best-27 (so best-23 + 4 x emergencies) to have missed 7+ games through injury:

Short
McCauliffe
T Young
Hotton
Smillie
Lalor
Balta
Lynch
Faull
Gibcus
Gray
MRJ
Clarke
Hugo
Armstrong
Lefau
That's a massive list....and it means when a best-23 players goes down, we are constantly calling on players well down our list to play senior footy.
Then 2024 was bad also - best-27 to miss 7+ games:

Graham
Gibcus
Pickett
Grimes
Lynch
Clarke
Lefau
Look at those first 6 x players...basically an entire midfield. So if we suffer a similar fate then it'll be a challenge to win more than a handful of games in 2026.
But fingers crossed...if we finally get a really good injury run, we could really spike very quickly as there's loads of talent that simply hasn't played much footy.

Let's be honest with this team,
1. Midfield of Nank, Taranto, Hopper is the worst in the AFL.
2. Short at half back will make Banks second guess himself again.
3. Two Sam Lalor's is really fantastic and I'm excited to see how 2026 goes with this inclusion

My crystal ball says the more of the same shit.
Competitive in most matches but then a 10 to 15min lapse that see opponents blow games out.
Adam Slater was following Young and Goodwin, then Nathan Bower and Gavin Edwards (an U19 and VFL Player). Hard to tell the rest.
