Yep, the decision by Richmond to take Knobel has put the Blues in a bit of a pickle, especially as they were so keen on him.

I reckon they might take Porter and McKee will be overlooked.

Richmond don't really want Knobel but need to take a ruckman and McKee has been unable to train due to groin problems that have nagged him for 2 years. McKee's lack of fitness has basically seen him rule himself out. Knobel is basically the only choice. He doesn't really suit Richmond, but they could pick him up with a view to trading him for a pick in the 30-40 range next trade period.

Seems more and more likely Port will take who is left of Blumfield and Zantuck, but they are the club most likely to pull a surprise.

This will be the interesting pick. I will be curious to see whether they take a risk stuffing up the chemistry of their team. I mean Zantuck was chased out of Richmond, and Blumfield played dead for 2 years. Port also must be looking at Salary Cap issues going forward. They might choose to go with a kid.

Richmond will pass on pick 8 - why would they pick Kirkby then when they can pick him pick 1 in the rookie draft for half the cost and on a 1 year deal?

Exactly. Surely it would be better to take 2 rookies for the price of one PSD pick. Taking Kirkby in the rookie draft would let us afford an extra rookie.

Kirkby to Richmond still seems odd to me. All the other key positions players we have taken have been quick, mobile and done very well on the stamina tests. I don't think Kirkby to Richmond is set in stone.
