Will we participate in the P/S Draft and if so any idea's on the type of player we might sort after? Have heard/read we showd some interest in both Heffernen and B. Scott during trade week... I know Heffernen seems certain for essendon if he leaves the dees.... B.Scott is an interesting one :thumbsu:

We have 5 spots to fill on our senior list having :
Chambers (traded)
Rahilly, Sanderson (retired)
Haynes, Slade (delisted)
also rookies Buckland, Garth (delisted)

Given we have D/Picks #15, 31, 35, 47 and P/S #12

What are your thoughts?

Can't see either remaining two rookies being promoted...
Will we just use a later pick (#63) in the National Draft on another kid
or perhaps grab an unconrtacted player is P/S Draft?

Bomber doesn't seem to mind filling last spot this way, Lord, Moloney, Koula

Sanderson was on the veterans list so his retirement doesn't affect our main list numbers.

We have no one else for the vets list so the only impact Sanderson's retirement has is that it allows us to have 5 rookies in 2006.

There's a fair bit of time left for clubs to sign up any uncontracted players before the draft comes around so there probably won't be too much floating around. I would expect the Lions to re-sign Selwood, he's not a player that you let go for nothing, salary cap squeeze or not. Rodan will probably settle for a one year deal at the tigers and Lappin will probably agree to a 2 year deal. So that leaves very little when it comes around to us if we pass on our 3rd round pick to join the preseason draft. Passing on a 4th or 5th round is fairly normal but a 3rd rounder might be a bit too much of a gamble.

Fair point..... Thanks guys, Sanderson being a veteran on our list totally slipped my mind

Forget pre season draft, stick with our four picks in the National :)

Any news on brad scott????

He would be handy

Heffernan is probably a bit too simular to Smithy, Enright and Dinga being a tallish midfielder that's not overly quick. Not really a necessity IMO.

Brad Scott could add some grunt & experience to our backline but being a smaller defender whos place does he take??

Hunt, Rooke, Wojcinski, Dave Johnson, Callan.

I'd only take him if he would play for the minimum, perhaps with some incentives, otherwise I'd take four picks in the national draft and add three rookies and get some young talent in the following areas:

* 1 or 2 midfielders, one quick outside player and one with a bit of bulk and a penetrating kick.
* Medium sized marking forward with some dash.
* Small goalkicking forward/midfielder to compliment Ablett/Chapman when they play onball
* Tall defender
* KPP that can also ruck

Obviously you would look to rookie list the last two but I think this would cover us in all areas remembering that we will take Tom Hawkins next year giving us a CHF.

– DO NOT ADD IT TO SCRIP-CNTROL or run ANY commands against it, these include “who”, “what” etc.

Rodan would fit this bill. FAT CHANCE of getting him though. I was always a big fan.

I agree, he would be a handy addition.

From what i've read it sounds like the Tigers have asked him to take a bit of a pay cut and the young fella aint too happy about it but we aint got too much spondoola to splash around so I think your dead right on that one.

Unfortunatley he cracked it with them on the Thursday night before the trade deadline closed so it was too late for anyone to make a deal. Will more than likley sign a one year deal, spit the dummy and ask to be traded the following year.

195cm 94kg CHF that can also play down back or in the ruck thanks to his huge leap. Played alongside Xavier Ellis at Melbourne Grammer as a year 11 (also played in the senior team in year 10 aswell) and was reportadly double teamed in most games. Played the last 3 games for Sandy in the TAC Cup once school commitments had finished kicking 1,2 and 5 fron CHF. Also played for Bentleigh during school holidays mid year and kicked 5.

I have heard Bobby Davis talking about him on SEN with KB and he said that he will be an out & out champion.

I hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that he's been given an AIS-AFL scholorship.

Oh yeah, his sister is dating Jimmy Bartel.

But that's all I know.

He's only 16.

Played most of his football for MGS but got a taste of TAC Cup football late in the season with some nice results.

He'll be bottom-aged when we draft him in 2006.

I hope they take Luke Buckland with a late pick, he has plenty to offer this club, his form this year should be blamed on Tudor, as Tudor played him out of position most of the year, last 4 - 5 weeks have a look at what he did from the wing and off half back, If they don't take him there mad.
Does anyone no what his brother Trent is doing, forget about Hawkins we should be thinking of Bucklands brother Trent

Ok i played footy with Trent this year and he is NO WHERE NEAR AFL standard. The kid has a bit of an attitude problem he actually quit footy during the season and then decided to come back a month later. Dont get me wrong he can play a bit but he severely lacks a work ethic to make it at the top level. Luke was better than Trent ( i played with him to) and he couldnt even make it, even though he was stiff.

Geelong fans stick with Tom Hawkins he is the great hope.

He wouldn't last to us in the PSD.

I'd use one of our later picks in the draft on him though. Likewise for Ryswyk. Logan is worth a rookie list spot.
