Can you please advise me of the Swans players who have been in solid form during the Wizard Cup and Practice matches. Especially the players around the midfield and half-forward positions as well as the youngsters who are ready to take the AFL by storm.

Do you think J.McVeigh will have more time in the midfield this year

It's difficult to assess our pre-season. For the most part, the side has been half the regular side. Also theres that no-ones been able to see every game Sydney's played.

McVeigh could definitly step up this year though, and Schneider. Buchanen looked good in the wiz cup game. There's been alot said about J Moore, saying he could play round one. I doubt it though, did look good but isn't fit enough to play whole games, while other players who have been around longer could (Sunqvist, Malkeski, Ablett).

Down back, Sean Dempster has impressed everyone during the pre-season, with his ability to play on taller forwards (e.g. Ian Perrie) and smaller type forwards (e.g. Jason Akermanis) as well as his mobility and rebound from half-back. With Jared Crouch likely to be missing in Round 1, I think he is a big chance to play against Hawthorn.

In the midfield, expect McVeigh to receive more time although he will still spend time on the bench. Moore may make his debut mid-season especially if injuries claim a few players.

Up forward I would suspect it would mostly be the same set-up as last year. Barry Hall floating between FF and CHF, with Micky O'Loughlin sitting in the goalsquare and Nick Davis and Ryan O'Keefe pushing up to the half-forward flanks. Expect a resting big man out of Jason Ball, Stephen Doyle and/or Darren Jolly to be up there at some time.
