With only the one official pre season match (with an additional unofficial match if we want to organise it) you would think that with a new coach he would want to play as close to his Round 1 side as possible.

The Hawks are a basket case atm so it won't be a good test for any new game plan but it still needs to be practised, practised, practised...and maybe it will be good to try it initially against a weaker team.

A couple of the younger kids will be given a run on the extended bench - I expect Spicer and Mahoney to be part of that.

In terms of specifics/structure I am sure Noble will want answers to

. does JZ down back have legs (and then what is the impact on the whole structure of the backline if he plays there),
. whether X can play key forward/back up ruck or will it need to be J Walker
. whether Stevo will be predominantly mid or forward
. do we play a defensively minded small forward
. is Phiilips ready for Round 1.

I am actually scared of this match. Despite all my self assurances to the contrary, our pre season form has usually transferred directly into the season proper.

Will be a good test as Clarko will have his team with good setups.

Teams like the hawks, swans have always stagnated our ball movement - let’s see if we’ve improved in this aspect

so at least this isn’t the only game against actual oppo before round 1 for us
