Assistant coach Adrian Hickmott has been awarded the 2017 Phil Walsh Scholarship.

Hickmott receives $10,000 to help in his coaching development.

Well that's pretty cool. Wonder what the criteria was, and which attributes made Hick stand out from other candidates.

Has made Sam Mitchell the player he is today.

Interesting out of all our young players they chose waterman. You can't say it Lazy Journal ism as they only picked 12 players out of 18 clubs.

Weird article

References little known players but names the first 3 draft picks then plucks Waterman from nowhere when he's in a moonboot with stress fractures so will have a delayed start to the season and sits behind Kennedy, Darling, Petrie and Vardy as a possible forwardline option. Unlikely we'll see him in the wings in 2017.

If he was going to pluck an Eagles player it should have been Rioli

Another good read and probably more realistic than the other article from yesterday although the writer seems to have less of a handle on what we are doing which given he's in Melbourne is not unreasonable. There's no glaring errors in his assessment
I look forward to your next WCE article review!

Edit: I should have refreshed!

2015 we played most of the top 8 at home
2016 we played most of the top 8 away
2017 we play most at home again

I see top 2 realistic . If we can beat these top 8 sides at home hopefully even give them a touch up give ourselves a double chance .

Malthouse used Brown as a mobile ruckman in 2010 won a premiership . We know doggies had inexperienced small rucks last year . We should be there abouts . I couldnt care less what the Age or the roar write . We know this team can do it if they perform like 2015 .yes Maybe no Nic Nat .With Jetta firing , Mitchell the field Marshal and in 2015 McGoverns shoulder was Dicky . Barass has come on and Mckenzie is back . Jackson Nelson has improved and we have a little bit more depth pushing up from the Wafl and from memory I may be wrong but I think I am right Nic Nat was injured at the start of 2015 so had a poor pre season and wasnt so influential anyway .

I am so moist to see the Jack Darling & Josh Kennedy combo back in full flight and better than ever.

60+ goals each. Calling it, you can praise me later

The interesting thing will be, do we bring Nic Nat back in round 17 if he's ready and we're top 4?
If he's ready, he'll almost be back by definition: there'd be no point having Nic actually ready to play and not playing him.

No one will be rushing his rehab to get him ready though. And if they are not sure if he's ready or not, they won't chance it.

lol

A line in that article got me excited:

"Some might have a little query about whether Matt Priddis and Mitchell will now be fighting for the same ball in stoppage situations, but both are too smart for that, and play different games at any rate."

We've discussed a bit about how Mitchell will benefit Shuey, but not much about how he will benefit Priddis.

I am pretty excited to see how Priddis can perform now that the clearance load will be spread out significantly.

I have a feeling Priddis will not be debated much longer
