FFS Newton looks like an overweight two's players in D grade ammos. You'd think if your career was hanging by a thread you'd put everything into getting as fit and strong as possible.

And Fitzy needs a lot of work in the gym.

All other boys look sharp. Trengove's got a great build for a young midfieder and Scully looks like he could do back to back marathons.

Any idea where Tapscott was?

Wona looks like hes been doing bicep curls ... with donuts ! his arms are huge and his gut is also
Wonna just has that kind of build I think, very difficult for him to slim down.

I think he may have just slipped away up north for a week or two and indulged in a little of the local specialty:

Seriously though, late this season he was looking pretty fit. I reckon he'll get back to that shape (at least) before next season.

I caught about 20 minutes of training this morning at a windswept Gosch’s paddock. Good vibe and intensity to the session. The Pies were training on the other oval with far more media attention. Both groups were were giving each other the old optic nerve. Some points:

  • Scully: Appeared to be enjoying training. Great energy, great off the deck. I paid particular attention to his kicking and wasn’t disappointed. All kicks found their target, and importantly, were nice and flat. Admittedly, most of the drills I saw involved kicking less than 40 meters, but good signs nonetheless.
  • Morton: Has filled out a touch but runs with an awkward gait. Showed good intensity and the coaches were particularly happy with some of his efforts. Kicking was pinpoint.
  • Dunn: Fluffed a few kicks, but very vocal.
  • Spencer: Has definitely put on a few KGs. Very ungainly shot for goal that rarely went through the big sticks. During some team pushups, Spencer miscounted and stopped too early. Sylvia found it hilarious and gave him a good natured spray.
  • Viney: Pretty sure he was running some of the drills. Booming voice.
  • Watts: Sublime skills and moved very well. Missed a few set shots on goal. What I really noticed being at ground level was his impressive frame. Still some work to do, but he will fill out very nicely.
  • Blease: Uninhibited. Moved smoothly and disposed well. Very good sign to see him up and about this early in the pre-season.
  • Gawn and Martin: Both were running laps. Gawn is a monstrous fella. If he is a modicum of coordination (and he wasn’t tripping over his own giant legs), he could be anything.
I hung around for about 20 minutes and was impressed with what I saw.

Thanks a lot Dr Op.:thumbsu:

Some pleasing comments for sure.

Jack aint going to be running any drills is he?

Well that's what I thought, but then last time I saw Todd he was the size of the Members Wing, don't know if he could either....

So you can see where my confusion comes from ;)

Todd would be running the drills (standing pointing, yelling) not actually running in the drills. ;)

Boys are looking fit, glad to hear they appear sharp as well. Just need them to train smart through the pre-season with no injuries so we have a ful compliment to choose from at the beginning of next year.

It has taken numerous people numerous attempts to explain it to me but now i finally understand. Thank you.

BigFooty: where intelligent thought and reason go to die (at least in my case anyway)
