Yes you make some good points here. McStay and Howe have had really interrupted seasons recently but Moore seems to have improved in body resilience and unlike back in 2018 can push through injuries. For eg last year they say he carried the shoulder for most of the season and he played all games in 2024 and most in 2023. But as you say, the only way we get games into the younger ones below is if our veterans either are managed or are injured. So this may be one of these blessings in disguise. Howe mainly plays on a flank we seem to have plenty of potential half back flankers if they can stay fit. Reading reports Tew is struggling with his body a bit. And also the reports seem to hint that Moores injury was related to ruck work so maybe not have him doing rucking.Sadly, McStay, Moore and Howe all have histories where seasons were significantly disrupted by repeated minor injuries. Unfortunately for those guys, it’s rarely a case of one and done.
The upside from a development point of view is that Buller, West, McInnes and maybe even Smit will get plenty of opportunities - but that won’t help us win matches this year.
A 9th-14th place finish seems most likely to me now but I’m looking forward to seeing some fresh faces as we transition our list.

Agree Howe being injured could be a good thing. It forces selectors to look to the future. Personally I think he should have been retired off last year.Moore we can’t replace but Howe playing less than 10 games in 2026 might actually be good for our list moving forward
We don't play finals in January.Sadly, McStay, Moore and Howe all have histories where seasons were significantly disrupted by repeated minor injuries. Unfortunately for those guys, it’s rarely a case of one and done.

I think there was more context to just January injuries in the comments, if you think injuries stop at the end of Jan then look again, it's the long-term impact (potentially)Lots of doom and gloom in here. Some minor injuries in January means we won't be playing finals?
McStay, Howe, Moore and IQ should be training again by Australia Day. It sounds like Josh and Houston will be back very soon too? I know an interrupted preseason is never ideal though it could be so much worse. There are clubs with key players missing very large training blocks.
Clearly, I'm more insinuating that you'd prefer to get them early and be minor than later and long term e.g. Day, Motlop, Hogan, Greene and a bulk of North players.I think there was more context to just January injuries in the comments, if you think injuries stop at the end of Jan then look again, it's the long-term impact (potentially)
KarmaSaw a few hawks fans crowing over our injuries and ageing list yesterday
Nek minutt - Will Day with season threatening shoulder at training today
I’m not saying that the sky is falling, I just don’t think we’re contenders this year.We don't play finals in January.

I had to do a double take tbh. Usually a 17 year old that tall would be an absolute rake but he’s got the body of a 25 year old alreadyVan Hattum is going to be a huge man.

The less players in the state of origin the better.Let’s see if I have this right
IQ
Howe
Houston
Hill ( I know )
Moore
McCreery
McStay
Daicos x2 coming off something
All soft tissues?
It’s not the minor injuries that worry me, just the delay in training and conditioning leading up to the Saints
You must be great at parties. FYI, Moore hasn’t played less than 24 games in a year since 2021, he’s well past the “soft tissue prone” phase he had whilst still growing in to his body. And McStays issues by and large have been knee ligaments not traditional soft tissue injuries.Sadly, McStay, Moore and Howe all have histories where seasons were significantly disrupted by repeated minor injuries. Unfortunately for those guys, it’s rarely a case of one and done.
