And a good one.

I originally had suggested Douglas before yesterday's WWT game, but 41 possessions by Knight demands that he get picked IMO. You can't ignore that sort of form, when there is just that vacancy available.

On 5AA this am they stated that both Bassett and McGregor will return to the side.

Given that this is correct, my Ins and Outs become

Ins: Bassett, McGregor, Knights

Outs: Hart, Stevens, Skipworth

With a line-up of:

F: Ricciuto, Hentschel, Welsh

HF: Thompson, McGregor, Bode

C: Massie, Goodwin, Doughty

HB: McLeod, Bock, Mattner

B: Bassett, Rutten, Johncock

R: Clarke, Edwards, Shirley

I: Biglands, Reilly, Van Berlo, Knights

It's time to settle our line-up down as we plan to play in finals, and for my money there's two things that must happen:

Bock back to CHB now that he's found a bit of touch and form. He's moving well. Stevens has done the job in Bock's place, but Bock is back IMO.

Hart does not deserve his place in the side at the moment. I'm terrified every time he is about to dispose of it. However, he does appear to have a gold pass, and the selectors could well keep him and axe Massie, whose form on the wing prior to going to HB this week had been very sound.

Re: Ins and Outs for Showdown

If McGregor comes back in and not Perrie, it could be the vital mistake that could stop those little railway workers from getting our runaway train back on track. He is not fit, he is slow, and one week off is not long enough to get this back. He DOES NOT deserve a little gold pass. Up until the Fremantle game it was the Sarge who commanded our forward line and kept the traffic going through to Ricciuto and co. McGregor's lack of pace, and mental decision making is showing through when he is injured (aka now). Give him a week with WWT, and reevaluate. Macca23, your right, bock must move back the CHF, and unfortunately for Stevens his number's come up (although Craigy will probably persist with him against our judgement). I would love to see Huddo back this week, but I think it would be more important to see how Biggy and Clarkey go against Lade. If one of them fails, then they're outta here, Huddo in, but until one of them ****s up, then Huddo might as well press for selection with the Chooks.

F: Ricciuto, Hentschel, Welsh

HF: Doughty, Perrie, Bode

C: Mattner, Goodwin, Shirley

HB: McLeod, Bock, Massie

B: Bassett, Rutten, Johncock

R: Clarke, Edwards, Thompson

I: Biglands, Reilly, Van Berlo, Knights

If the Sarge's knee is not causing concern then i too would prefer him to McGregor at chf as he offers more in general play than Kenny.

Some very hard & crucial decisions have to be made this week that could affect our finals chances.

We have to get it right.

hang on - are you saying Douglas should be in over Knights ?

I would have most definitely suggest that this was the round to blood Richard Douglas before Sundays SANFL game, however with the game Chris Knights played and got the cheery 41 times he has jumped over the top.

Chris Knights should be able to come in to the side and contribute (who would know what Douglas out put would be in his first game) and will also be better for playing the 8 or 9 games in the first half of the season.

Richard Douglas will play AFL football for the AFC sooner rather than latter but he just needs to be patient and he is unlucky that Knights produced a blinder last week or he was in.

If we are going to be consistent then yes Knights comes in and we reward form.

But Richard Douglas wouldn’t be getting a game because of charity. His form in the last 2 or 3 week has been very good and deserving of being picked. He is just unlucky that Skipworth had a good patch of form as well and now Knights.

How is Douglas a year furhter on:confused:

Knights has been tearing it up at SANFL Level longer than Douglas who is a frist year player yet to make his debut

Knights is clearly in front of him.

I have no problem with Douglas being picked though if that's the way the MC go.

We would be consistent, because Dougie was unable to play last week because he was in Melbourne with the Crows.

This was good man management, because he will obviously play next year and the expereince away will do him good.

He can also go back to Broadford and see the family and friends.

I have a feeling though that he may now miss out. Knighter as Crows 98 has said, played a blinder on the weekend and his development is above Dougie.

A pity as Dougie has more talent than a number of other players who have made their debut this year.

He is the most talented junior we have had at the Club for a long time - since we discovered Trent and Stiffy.

I would still like to see him play. Sometimes as a coach (and I am one) you need to change things around to re ignite the spark. A new young player can often do that.

An inspired Adelaide move, may even see both boys play.

Their run, enthusaism, energy and carefree approach can often be the missing ingredient to a team that has gone stale.

Come on Craigy take a risk - you have little in this game to lose.

As Blighty used to say If you dont have a go ..... you will never never know.

And by the way take the chains off the boys... get them to take on their opponents. Let us kick it long to a one on one contest in the forward half and back the Pez, Welshy, Trent, Kenny or whoever is there.

We need to get some energy back into the side.

Whoever lays the first tackle .... get around him and slap him on the arse.

Pump it up we are good enough if we have faith in the players who are out there.

Wasn’t that one of NC major objectives he set out when he took over as coach of the AFC, for his players to be risk takers?

It was - but the chip chip style is not showing this to be apparent atm.

Craigy also needs to take this approach into selection matters.

Football is a very simply game, the more thought you put into it the greater the chance you have of stuffing something up.

Dermott was talking about it on the Brisbane vs. West Coast match yesterday about how a ruckman taps it to the rover on the move and he kicks it to the full forward or kicks the goal himself. It’s a simple game but some time coaches try and over complicate it.

In Perrie Bassett Knights

out Skipworth Stevens Massie

Knights was awesom for the Eagles yesterday.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Massie should be a candidate to be dropped. He may have done an ok job for most of the year but if we're going to be honest he has been pretty average for a while. Has been a bit of a passenger for much of the second half of the year I reckon, still living off his early season form. For a similar type of player Torney is undoubtedly the better option.

Or, even move Stevens down to the midsized type that Massie would normally get and put Bock at CHB. I couldn't help but think during the Bulldogs game that Bock's non-stop run and almost obsession with playing on at all costs could have really added spark to our mostly stagnant movement out of defence.

Ok now i have some family members who haven't obviously seen the light yet as they follow your team so with that in mind i say 'good luck for this weeks game' ......

You're definately going to need it :D

Re: Round 21 Port Adelaide vs Adelaide

Have tickets in the Northern Stand. Looking forward to some healthy banter and no doubt some nasty insults:D

Crows will crush Port, make no mistake of that.

Its line in the sand time.

As big as our slump is I can't go past the fact that Port have only won 1 game out of their last 8. Even as bad as we've been playing I think we'll win this one comfortably.

You'd think so, but weirder things have happened.

Perrie in this week and Knights in for Skipworth to add to an underperforming midfield.

Just the sort of opponent we need to bring back the desperation! Crows to win.

Is the game sold out yet? I was supposed to be working but im not now... I must go.

No, I bought 2 tickets in bay 143 about 25 mins ago but the lady was struggling to find them.

If you want tickets, I guess be quick about it and don’t leave it to long but be prepared to pay though the nose. Port Adelaide tickets are expensive as my 2 tickets cost $55
