Adelaide vs Port Adelaide - Thursday Night AO

Geelong vs GWS- Friday Night MCG

Sydney vs Essendon- Sat arvo SCG

Richmond vs Melbourne Sat Night MCG

Im predicting Richmond to have a Richmondy moment this Sunday against the Saints (Hope im wrong)
I'm praying you're right.

The afl won't want the semi final match ups to have any team with a 2 day advantage over the other..

So 1v4 and 5 v8 will be paired together with either the thurs-Fri or the saturday double with 2v 3 and 6 v7 taking the remainig slots.

My guess

Thursday 5 Port vs 8 Bombers
Friday 1 Adelaide vs 4 GWS
Saturday 6 Sydney vs 7 Melbourne
Saturday night 2 Geelong vs 3 Richmond

This may help a few people:

Winner of 6 v 7 and loser of 2 v 3 play the Friday night semi.

Winner of 5 v 8 and loser of 1 v 4 play the Saturday semi.

This is to get the winner of 1 v 4 the Friday night prelim (and to avoid 6 day breaks). This means 2 v 3 and 6 v 7 would play Thursday/Friday.

Although if Crows finish 1 and port finish 5 then this will make two Saturday games impossible. So they will then give up on 1 v 4 getting the Friday night prelim. So this means that the two Adelaide games would be Thursday-Friday.

If 1/4/5/8 side of the draw happens first on Thurs/Fri, then the semi that results from it takes place on Saturday n while the 2/3/6/7 semi will result in a 6 day break for both sides

Have always thought both Prelims should be on the same day unless at the same venue, in which case should be Fri N and Saturday arvo. 24 hours extra is unfair imo.

I think they would instead swap the prelim dates. Two games in Adelaide mean something would have to give. I think that would be the prelim dates rather than the 6 day breaks.

It's your home ground too. Would you rather play in Ballarat?

Hes taking the piss out of cats fans as the likely scenario will see 2 Geelong vs 3 richmond at the mcg so the higher ranked cats will be playing at the lower ranked richmond home ground.

I could care less about where we play them. We will beat them wherever, just have to hope we can get past the giants to make it happen
