I thought it may be a little fun to help pass the time to predict who we will play in the first 6 rounds of 2019.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-07-19/afl-reveals-likely-key-dates-for-2019-fixture

This article states Round 1 will most likely begin on Thursday, 21st March.

Easter is Sunday, 21st April (Round 5), meaning ANZAC Day, Thursday, 25th April will be Round 6.

——————-

My guess

Round 1 - Melbourne (home) - Friday Night @ MCG
Round 2 - West Coast (away) GF Rematch - Friday Night @ Optus
Round 3 - Western Bulldogs (away) - Saturday afternoon @ Marvel
Round 4 - Sydney (home) - Saturday Night @ MCG
Round 5 - Richmond (home) Easter Thursday - Thursday Night @ MCG
Round 6 - Essendon (away) ANZAC Day (Thursday) - Thursday afternoon @ MCG

What are others predictions?
What do you think of mine?

Does anyone have an idea of when the 2019 fixture will be released?

Anyway, not sure about Richmond on Easter Thursday. The Herald Sun reported that the Lions had requested to play us on that day and were fairly bullish about being granted that slot.

It’s a pretty good prediction you’ve done there.

This is my prediction for the first 6 rounds
Round 1 - Collingwood Vs Hawthorn MCG Saturday Night (Home)
Round 2 - West Coast Vs Collingwood Perth Stadium Thursday Night (Away)
Round 3 - Collingwood Vs Geelong MCG Friday Night (Home)
Round 4 - Western Bulldogs Vs Collingwood Marvel Stadium Saturday twilight (Away)
Round 5 - Brisbane Vs Collingwood GABBA Thursday Night (Away)
Round 6 - Essendon Vs Collingwood MCG Thursday Afternoon (Away)

I believe this could be a reasonable start for Collingwood as there are some hard teams to face and some easy ones. It’s a bit of a stretch to have 3 aways games in a row. Although we could steer us to having more home games at the end of the season!!!

MooreTreloar like your set out and like your thoughts here so have copied and pasted with comments etc. Underlining changes.

Great thread idea.

Round 1 - Melbourne (home) - Friday Night @ MCG Quite sure would LOVE this and logical to do!

Round 2 - West Coast (away) GF Rematch - Friday Night @ Optus Agree and again smart business.

Round 3 - Western Bulldogs (away) - Sunday twilight @ Marvel

Round 4 - Sydney (away) - Saturday Night @ SCG

Round 5 - Richmond (home) Easter Saturday Night @ MCG As Essendon can play day time Saturday to keep break fair to both ANZAC teams.

Round 6 - Essendon (away) ANZAC Day (Thursday) - Thursday afternoon @ MCG Lock it in!

We always play cartoon early
1. Melbourne, Friday night
2. West Coast, Friday night
3. Carlton, Saturday afternoon
4. Richmond, Saturday night
5. St Kilda, Etihad Saturday afternoon
6. Essendon, anzac day Thursday

Thanks Saintly Viewed.

I hope it pans out this way.

I believe both Melbourne & us have requested this. Unlike last year where we were two bottom 10 teams we are now Runners Up & Prelim Finalists, think it could get a crowd of 80,000+ on a Friday night.

West Coast are due to play away in Round 1, so should host Round 2. A Grand Final Rematch would be fitting as they unfurl the flag, 58,000+ on a Friday Night, maybe Saturday.

No reason behind the Western Bulldogs & Sydney, though with our last home game against Sydney in 2013 I'd think we're due a home game. It'll have been 6 year.

The short turn around comes before Anzac Day in 2019 which is why I have Richmond on Easter Thursday, but Saturday afternoon would be fairer as Essendon can host Melbourne @ Marvel at the same time.

The Richmond & Essendon games could be back to back 90,000+ @ the MCG.

I always have fun thinking up what our fixture could be.

All I can say, you’ve don’t be better than they could come up with.

Round 1 Melbourne Friday
Round 2 Richmond. Thursday
Round 3 st Kilda. Saturday
Round4 West coast. Friday
Round 5. Lions. Thursday ( Richmond / north Good Friday)
Round 6. Dons Anzac Day

Rest assured imo
2 games
Melbourne, Richmond, Carlton,essendon, eagles

So probably

Geelong (Friday)
Richmond (Thurs)
Hawthorn (Saturday) - guess, think we'll get them twice.
Melbourne (Friday) - guess, think we'll get them twice also.
Brisbane (Thurs)
Essendon (ANZAC day)

Wouldn't be surprised to see us play WCE on the Saturday night in Perth the week after ANZAC day, only to play them again at the MCG very late in the year.
