Predict Pies margin over Freo

surely you jest ed? have you seen the list players freo will be missing? not to mention the fact that the pies will be fired up to get things rolling into finals after last week's fade out. pies beat freo over there last year by 8 goals at a stage when freo were probably the form side of the comp with all of their big guns up and running. this fri night is going to be so so ugly. pies by around 130

I'm aware there's no legitimate logic to my thought process.

But then again, I didn't think Brisbane would get within 3 goals of us either. No logic for that one but it happened.

Again, I couldn't give you a reason, I just have a baaaaad feeling about this particular game. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Freo to smash Collingwood, then pulverise the Dogs, and win the flag from 8th with 12 fit players left

If by some miracle we do manage to win (and it would be a major miracle) it would be an indictment on our selection committee.

All year long we've rushed back half fit and underdone players and we've played like a tired, underdone team. Now if we suddenly play better with a fully fit team of reserves you'd have to ask the question why we didn't put more faith in our depth and bring our stars back more conservatively.

Of course it's far more likely that we're going to get absolutely smashed so the point will be moot.

Won't be a big margin, Pies are starting to look tired.. Wil be interesting to see how they see out the H&A season..
lol. You'd have to be in about 4 places at once to make that assessment given how far flung our best 22 have been over the last few weeks. Be it sitting out injured, suspended, rested, or returning through the VFL about a third of the team has been consistently missing from our team lately so one can only marvel at someone with the stamina to watch them all and make such an assessment.

That said I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us drop one of the next 2 games due to our outs even if those are rotational outs. The point being that it's unlikely to have anything whatsoever to do with fatigue.

Esti if we win it I'd be checking some Collingwood betting accounts.

Not a hope in hell.

Seriously, how dumb is this. They look tired? Do you blokes even watch footy involving teams other than your own, or just look at the scoreboard?

We have 7 players with less than 50 games last week. We will have about 7 premiership players return in the next couple of weeks. Tired? Pffft.

Says it all really. We will field 16 such players this week.

(Faulks, Bucovaz, Mellington, Anthony, Pitt, Walters, Mzungu, Crichton, Lower, Clarke, Barlow, Hinkley, Pearce, van Berlo, Fyfe and Suban.)

Walters did his knee last week, so you can count him out

Well, we have 9 fit players with 50 or more games (McPharlin, Sandi, Mundy, Johnson, Crowley, Duffield, Ibbo, Mayne, Palmer).

I guess that means we can play 13 under 50. With only 15 fit, two miss out this week.

I assume they will be emergencies. Feel bad for them.

Not disagreeing with anything you've written but did you watch the WCE game last weekend. Channel 7 continued their love affair with them by stating that WCE will 'catch Collingwood underdone' (I'm not kidding here) and had that game marked in as a win. The next step was to come back here and play....(quote)..'and they'll win that' (unquote)

Thats even more dopey than calling your lot 'tired'. Wish our guys looked as 'tired' as Collingwood, we'd have won a lot more games.

Hopefully, MM will take this chance to rest a few 'tired' players and you won't win by too much....hopefully!

Barlow will break his leg again forcing Harvey to swap his leg for an arm.

Any less than 60 and the AFL should (but won't) hold an investigation into the top teams tanking (which is what all of this 'resting' nonsense is, except for a flag this year rather than a flag in five years, which is what the more common type of 'tanking' is) over the last couple of rounds of a season.

Even the side Collingwood put out last week should mop up Fremantle at the moment. No team could cover the injuries they've copped this season.

If I were an unscrupulous player/club official (and there'd be plenty in the AFL, like in any profession) who'd heard we were going easy on a team in the lead-up to finals, I'd let a respected source know to put cash on the opposition beating the line. Easy cash.

What's the worst that could happen? Even if somehow caught for it (unlikely), you'd cop a suspension until finals start. That's even better than resting in the goalsquare for rounds 22-24.

You know it makes sense.
