Payne has more upside than Lee and Deleany put together. Deserved another year.

After 2 years he's not yet made it out of the development team to the VFL.
Pierce and Holmes are playing as a forward ahead of him.

You can have your opinion. And I'll have mine, he is 19 and he was always a longer-term prospect. Just thought he should get the extra year, again, more upside than Deleany & Lee from a KPP's perspective.

I thought he'd get at least another year and i'm a little disappointed.
But for him to not even get a third year on the rookie list suggests that something isn't right.
Either work ethic or lack of improvement in KPI's or something.

The fact that he was playing development league and only sometimes having an impact was a statement not an opinion.
The fact that the coaches have chosen to play Pierce and Holmes ahead of him was not my opinion.

Delisted: Saunders, Curren, Shenton, Holmes, Payne

Traded: Tom Lee (if contracted, I have NFI),

Retire: Fisher

On the edge but safe: Delaney (good back up and assume not on big money), Murdoch (another year predominately in the 2s then delisted 2017). Eli (one more year to take any chances given in the 1s then out if no improvement).

Potential Trade Bait: Longer (Don't want to see him go but could be a good option for the likes of WCE with NicNat out or other clubs that need a no 1 ruck, although he's unlikely to want to move to Perth given he left Brisbane to come to back to Melbourne and he just signed a contract extension, am not sure if I should remove him from my post but I've already typed a lot and not sure whether to delete it all or just hit send. **** It).

So is Brenton Payne actually delisted or is it still just a rumour - there's nothing on the Saints or AFL website to confirm the delisting of any Saints players as yet.

I see John Butcher has been delisted - maybe Richo always thought he could turn him into a defender and he is the mystery KPP we are apparently getting.

Sad day for those guys, TC has been a loyal servant for many years now. He and Saunders just needed to clean up their disposals and they would have been good. Hopefully someone takes a chance on them, ditto Del and Payne.

So far, OUT: two talls, two midfielders.
IN: ??

Had high hopes for Lee. In his draft highlights he looked athletic and agile, and with certain things he is/was, but he gets stuck in first gear (often at odd times) and looks very pedestrian. Slows our movement.

Taking 5 seconds to get up from a standard contested mark and missing two free quick players in the process can't be atoned for with a sideways kick now that the opp have set up.

Should dominate a league somewhere and sure he's made ok money.

You dont think shenton earned a stay with his VFL form?

When you've been on the list for as long as he has you need more than a good few weeks at VFL.

It's been an excellent season for Shents, I think he topped the VFL goal kicking and had a few games where he was sent back to stem the flow. I get your point though.

I'm always stunned at people who seem happy at the outs, as if de-listing them makes the team stronger in some way.

Agreed. TC alone is probably responsible for each other player having an extra kg or two of muscle on their frames. A true clubman.

Likewise. Hate the people on facebook going on about it as if these kids having their careers ended is a good thing.

Feel for Luke Delaney. He was a frustrated man at North and when he opened up at the Saints BnF in 2014 it was so heart warming.

Here was a guy that just wanted to play footy. A guy who believed he was good enough to play at the level but just needed a chance. When he got that chance he finished top 5 in the BnF.

He broke into tears that night such was his relief to be getting a chance and his humility towards the club for giving it to him.

Then we go and draft Hugh Goddard and trade in Jake Carlisle.

I hope Keys gets a go elsewhere (Freo, Brisbane and Carlton could all use him) or maybe we can find a spot on the rookie list for him.

Either way best of luck to Luke, one of the great clubmen in his short time with us.

I live in a happy world with flowers and sunshine, where Nick Riewoldt will never retire.
THIS!

People always complain about others not thinking outside the square. Of folks having closed minds; conditioned by what has happened in the past and unable to think outside what history has revealed.

Why can't Riewoldt play forever? Why???

On second thoughts, don't bother responding with your old fashioned thinking cos I ain't listening :p:D

The nature of our existence is revealed only by our perceptions, and memories of a time when Riewoldt was not playing may only be an illusion inflicted upon your mind, and a time where he does not play may never happen despite the logical rationale inflicted upon you based upon your erroneous perception.

amidoinitright?
