Vic Predict the outcome of the 2018 Victorian State Election

Read in the Age today that seeing are voters are unimpressed with the way the major parties (ie the Coalition) are treating the upcoming election campaign as a war against Daniel Andrews, and Andrews in return reminding everyone about Matthew Guy's past as Planning Minister in the last Coalition government, it seems that most of the voters would put their trust of support in the minor parties like the Greens or One Nation. And in fact, if the result ends up being a hung parliament, then Andrews and Guy would be best advised not to upset the crossbenchers when negotiating a contract to form government for the next 4 years.

If misusing taxpayer funds was a convention then it wasn't a convention worth keeping anyway.
More the referring things already investigated (and already embarrassed the government with) to the Police. Was a stupid move if they had things to hide themselves. The Greens must be loving this they helped the Libs get the ball rolling in the first place and now they're the only ones not getting push back because the Libs took it on their own to up the ante.

The rorts for votes scandal has now turned ugly with police announcing that they have arrested 17 people who are connected with the scheme. Expect to see the Coalition go on the attack from here on in.

More of the same it seems... corruption, fraud, bribery, rorting, by the people paid (and elected... apparently) to represent us.

The thinly veiled illusion continues to fall off revealing the bloated, maggot-infested carcass of greed and corruption.

The core of Australian democracy.

They've then released them without charge. WTF did they need to arrest them for questioning for? Police coming across as very heavy handed for a fraud investigation which they previously determined didn't warrant investigation. You'd hate to think there was collusion going on between members of the Police and the Liberal Party.

Scare tactics to get them to dob in the main instigators of the scheme

Gee I wonder who that might be??

There's definitely something going on between them. Arresting 17 people in pre-dawn "raids" is something usually reserved for alleged terror networks or pedophile rings - that VicPol not only did it, but publicly announced it, is 100% a political move, and it's one you can guarantee will result in an IBAC hearing somewhere down the track.

If the Australian Democrats was still going as a political Party, how would they have performed in this year's Victorian election if given the opportunity?

Rorting the system to demonstrate rorting of the system.

The heart of Australia’s democracy, corruption, has layers. Like a big smelly onion or ogre.

Where do you start? Giving strong advice to evacuate where possible instead of 'we've got this'?

I don't think one evacuated person was injured or killed

If you cant accept the economic impost of mass evacuations, sometimes for 'false alarms' then you are really saying some loss of life is inevitable and just bear it

You're making good points but all of the above have their genesis in the change to the Stay or Go policy where families were actively encouraged they could beat bushfires by fighting to save their houses.

As a result long time neighbourhood refuges were closed down and families told they had to leave before 10 in morning of fire ban day or else stay and fight the fire if it occurred. The CFA had no statutory obligation to even make timely warnings let alone assist in evacuation.

Reckon Victoria Police under Graham Ashton would be hoping the Coalition wins the election rather than Labor, seeing that the relationship between the Andrews government and VicPol has nosedived because of VicPol intervention in the 'rorts for votes' scandal, and also the Coalition has promised they will go in hard on the gangs once they are sworn in, unlike Labor.
