Libs have a rag tag bunch contesting this time. Ex Family first in one seat. "Lets take control" not even controlling the Party
This woman was a doozy of a choice in a close seat, given her long history of misbehaviour and obnoxious behaviour as a councillor, not to mention other offensive comments she's made as a proud self-confessed "christian zealot".

Labor pledges free tampons and pads in Victoria's public schools

Girls will receive free tampons and pads at Victorian state schools if Labor is re-elected, premier Daniel Andrews has pledged.

In an announcement on Twitter on Thursday morning, he said" "It’s an Australian first. It’s the right thing to do."

Health Minister Jill Hennessy said the Australia-first initiative followed similar moves in the US and Scotland, where research showed girls who couldn't afford sanitary products often missed school.

“Young women and girls at school shouldn’t have to worry about having access to a basic necessity like tampons and pads – and Labor will make sure they don’t have to,” she said.

Such a simple, but brilliant and progressive idea, it's hard to believe that it would be an Australian first.

Victoria's GDP is the highest, but its GDP per capita, which is the stat that indicates if people are better off, is one of the lowest.

Victoria's wage growth is the highest because the Andrew's government handed out wage increases to the public sector greater than any other state, and higher than private sector pay awards.

The current VPS EBA has pay rises equivalent to 3.25% a year. That people like you are critical of it because it is supposedly higher than private sector pay awards (which isn't entirely true) is an indictment on our federal IR laws, and it supports the ACTU's campaign to change those laws to ensure that average Jo & Josephine don't have to scrap and claw just to keep up with the cost of living.

Thought it would be close for awhile there but have come around to thinking ALP will win pretty comfortably.

It's always been that way. I've been saying that for 2 years. People just read too much Herald sun!

Many EBs would have been agreed under the former government, and are fairly hands off anyway

Yeah nah. Private sector pay rises have been stifled by the huge immigration into Victoria under bogus 'skills shortage' categories. The major private employers are all making redundancies, and either sending jobs overseas or filling positions at lower rates.

The VPS pay rises of 3.25% a year allow the Andrew's government to claim Victorian wage rises are the highest in the country. They should explain why the public sector should be getting higher pay rises than private sector. It's at the expense of taxpayer dollars when taxpayers are facing real wage stagnation.

The betting odds for the Liberals keep drifting, now out to $5 with TAB.

Why? There hasn't been any statewide polling for 2 weeks, so what is driving the ever decreasing implied probability of a liberal Victoria.

Maybe because a majority of people can finally see through all their Bullshit.

Yet it’s ‘just life’ when it’s the other way round? You private lackeys should know your place

I would rather see school bullying addressed properly. Bullies should be expelled immediately on a zero tolerance policy if they are found to exclude someone or bully them at school or over social media. Treat it like murder. It's not fair the victim becomes socially disadvantaged so the bully can receive an education. This would rightfully destroy the bullies work years just as the bully destroyed the victims school years.

3.25% isn't overly excessive and is easy to explain, the public sector follows an EBA process, what needs explaining is why doesn't the private sector follow a similar process, although wages in the private sector can misleading because many professional jobs are performance based with base rates that only gradually change due to the objective being on sales commissions.

I think it's because he's had to open his mouth and tell us his vision, rather than just attacking the government. Seems like a good opposition leader, until there's an election on. He's also got at least the same whiff of shadiness as Andrews from his time in government and he was only the planning minister.

He may have seemed like a moderate, when he didn't have to do anything but bag the government, but now he's telling people his plan and things like religion in public schools and the proposed ban on travelling to the CBD for anyone on a 'watch list' (whatever that is) and people in the middle who could win him the election are saying 'Yikes...'

That and of course ScoMo lurching from disaster to disaster can't help. There'd be people out there who vote Coalition at state level and ALP federally (or vice versa), but it wouldn't be common.

It could also be explained as the government encouraging those in the public sector to - you know - continue to serve the public.

You do know public servants pay tax and put money back into the economy, right?

the highest GSP per capita by far is the NT. Makes you wonder why they need to receive the highest GST revenue per capita by far.

perhaps deny them public transport:rolleyes:

I voted early on Tuesday, in and out in 5 minutes. First time I've done it this way, due me going to a music festival on election day, will be doing this weay from now on.

Interestingly the only volunteer who made a effort to speak to be was from Australian socialist party or something, who I humored.

From the majors there was some very old bloke for the Libs, who how to vote card was a joke, 3 dot points and none of which were actually policy related, just motherhood statements. Labors was a bit more substantial listing their accomplishments and the greens actually probably had the most in-depth policy based card.
