on the back of my accurate prediction of Hughes game, i predict watts will slightly fail. not an epic fail, but still a fail.

AND then i predict all you putz' will be arguing all week about which one his 3 kicks was your favourite..

shame on you, putz

You mean that prediction were you said he wouldn't hold his place in the team for this week? That accurate prediction?

My favorite thing about your prediction for Watts (1 tackle)... Is that you also have him down to be the first goal kicker.... Does not compute.

Rather than pissing into the wind and trying to pick how many touches he'll get, i'd rather determine what we feel is a pass mark for tomorrow.

15 Disposals
5 Marks
1 Goals

would also take 10 touches and 2 goals

I wouldn't be surprised if he failed either. But unlike you I won't be cheering when he gets penalised or kicks a clanger.

The real failer here is you, the fail supporter.

ladies. Gentlemen. thank you, thank you all very much.

i got home from work and watched the second half, it was a completely disgusting. not just watts, 18 players today were freaking terrible. grimes was our best, frawley did all he could and davey tried desperately hard to run us back into the game.

but this is a watts thread and he was less than good. dropped a sitter in the goal square that would have got us back into the game.. but showed some good signs which was disappointing for me..

failed today as predicted.

its just a game boys dont beat yourselves up, we were terrible today.. as a young team this will happen. demon revival kiss my ass

Watts got 15 disposals and 5 marks in a side which managed just 47 inside 50's. It wasn't a great day for forwards, but he still found a fair share of the footy and put in a decent effort. He'll be glad to get his first game of the season out the way, and hopefully he can build some confidence now.

I don't think that mark was exactly a sitter.

Jamie kicked too far, Watts had to run back with the flight towards the behind post.

Earlier in the game he took a number of good contested marks, with clean hands out in front.

Both players were pretty ordinary today, but Nicnats 2 screamers would probably give him the points:p

I'll take Watts game today, NN has played much better tan today but he was not as good as Watts today. If more of his leads were honoured he would have had 20+ possessions & 10 or so marks but the MFC vision was worse like a blind man trying find Wally.

TBH I don't really care to compare as there is nothing in their games to compare they are such different players.

Gets another game if you ask me. Was pretty good, his quick hands were nice, he just... needs time. He 'lopes' a bit, dont see much awesome sprinting from him considering he was (from memory) was one of the best at the draft camp?

Definitely showed more confidence in his body and skills but he is not nearly there yet... showed SIGNS which he didnt at all last year... i look forward to seeing him when we have a win

That's the thing though. There's been so much hysteria about how we should have taken Naitanui instead of Watts, but today proved that Watts could hold his own and at least equalled the output of the bloke everyone reckons we should have drafted. I'm not taking a swipe at Naita by any means, but I'm pleased Watts showed some signs that suggest we didn't make a mistake in drafting him.

2008 Draft Camp said:
20-Metre Sprint (seconds)
1. Ashley Smith – 2.80
2. Jack Watts – 2.82
Agility (seconds)
1. Stephen Hill – 7.77 (new record)
2. Jack Watts – 8.03

I know he has it, just doesn't really know how to use it yet. The guys on Triple M made a really good point though - watch say Bate or Green who have been playing for a while, if someone like Davey has the ball they know exactly where to go and Davey knows what they will do. Synergy doesn't come instantly.

The whole forward line was FUBAR today so i reckon his performance was pretty solid considering.

Good job Jack. Disappointed with the result. He wasn't outstanding, but did quite well considering how poor the mids and defenders used the ball.

Watts doesn't get into good positions often enough but gee he can take a grab and is solid when the ball hits the ground too. I reckon he reached par today but perhaps my expectations were not as lofty as others here.
