Val its especially pointless right now.

How many of the best players of the last decade were dominating in 2009?

Not too many.

Buddy, maybe Ablett. Maybe players like Boomer or Burgoyne as well.

Dangerfield had one season, Fyfe and Martyn were not even drafted.

Its hard to tell cos the game has changed a lot. But most of the dominant mids, forwards and backs wouldn't have been picked in a similar side.

It might be reasonable to pick a 2020 - 25 team now as a prediction, but it would look different.

10 years is *en ridiculous tho.

I imagine a few North players could make a 2020 - 25 side if Scamper is half the coach we think he is.

Thomas, Zurhaar and Brown. Taz if he was given a fair go.

Maybe some of the other mids.

It’s basically just an under 24 team in disguise.

I know. Its silly.

Its actually conceivable that someone like Cunners could dominate the next five seasons. He won't get any weaker, but has nearly a decade of experience now.

If Shaw pushes him to increase his endurance and these young mids come on then he could end up with a Williams or Mitchell like reputation.

He's been building to it for a while and the wider footy world is starting to take note.

Over the last 3 seasons he's had 20 plus contested possessions 13 times. Fifteen or more 31 or 32 times and fourteen another six or seven times.

He's had less than 10 contested possessions three times.

In a three year period he 20 or more contested possessions on ten occasions more than he had less than 10 contested possessions.

And got over 15 contested possessions in about half his games.

He's just hit his physical peak with a new coach, who seems to be demanding more of him and everyone else in the side and who seems to be capable of using assets to their best advantage.

By 2025 he could be rated among the greatest mids of the last decade.

Taz is another one. If his body and athleticism last 5 more years he could be the dominant backman of 2015 - 2025.

Ben Brown is looking similar in terms of forward output.

In 2015 you wouldn't have picked it.

None of them were that young then either.

100% agree with that. I said it before, Cunners could have a surprisingly long career for the simple reason he doesn’t rely on pace and is very good at protecting his body.
