Coach Prediction? Whos our next coach?

To be fair 2010 and 2009 imo were as simple as bad luck. 09 missing shots, 2010 the bounce. Like these little things were out of his control.

It ultimately was the difference between being a two time premiership coach and not.
I'd add the toe poke in 2009. Dawson gets that on his fist instead of inside of his arm and the ball goes past Scarlett and we had multiple players on the other side of that and not any Geelong player to be seen. I still bemoan we didn't get an easy, soft, not turn up, interstate kill opportunity for our sides like plenty of other clubs have had over the past 20 years.

Hundred per cent. I think that post like 2012 the top of the competition got much more isolated age genreally less dominant. All of the tigers premierships, Dogs, etc I think our team would have beaten them all.

Where does RObert Harvey at stand in all this? When you think of all the champion players of his day. Buckley Voss, Hird, he is the only one yet to coach.

After three years as head coach and to be going backwards badly in year three, would see the coach gone in most pro sports. Lyon has never delivered a premiership, and I don't think he is a development type of coach, so who knows. Seems like an ok guy, but we're the Saints and crazy things happen with our club.

If Ross is still out coach next year he must put an end to the extra day off Bullshit.

That's an extra skill session, weights session and vision assessments a week.

We will never catch the better teams if we are doing less, you have to be doing more to just give yourself a chance!

So what's the actual story with that? I'm not really across it. Do our players really train one day less than the rest of the competition?

Could not agree more. Can accept the list is worse than we thought etc. Can't accept we think it is okay for blokes to have an extra day off from the club when we clearly have more to work on the most other teams.

The optics of this are just horrendous. Makes me completely lose faith in Lyon and our development when he is openly talking about this.

I can somewhat understand this approach from an older successful list, who have already put the right processes in place.

To take this view with a young inexperienced list, from a club that has massive development issues, is nothing short of stupidity.

Ross has said a few times that we have an extra day off after a game compared to most if not all clubs. Why? I don't know.

But it needs to stop, it obviously has to be player driven due to contacts etc.

I want players who are obsessed with winning, obsessed with improving. Not part time footballers with all the benifits of a professional full-time footballer.

Enough is enough!

Ross Lyon is the coach going forward for a long time. He is the coach to take us through this build and will be there when we are contending. This is and has been first and foremost a personnel issue. Drafting and development mistakes have gotten us here. This kind of knee jerk thinking of jumping to the next untried coach is what continues the cycle of mediocrity.

100%
In a worst case Lyon does the hard yards in setting us up and there is a transition
I think he did the early work to bring in Serong , Brayshaw etc at Freo to kick start their re build and they love him
I don’t buy he can’t develop
What he does have to adjust in my view is this view of constantly giving senior guys who won’t take us forward another chance …another chance ….i think we are close to line through a few now

So you think Ross is getting the best out of the current list?

I don’t think much of the current list if I’m honest and it’s hard to get the best out of them if they’re constantly in rehab
Do you think Ross has had the best of his current list fully available for any length of time to assess what their “best” looks like ?….I actually couldn’t say what the scope of this list at their best is cause I just haven’t seen it….
My dear old ma used to say …”hard to pull up your socks when you haven’t got any on…”
That aside Lyon doesn’t get a free pass - team selection, injury management and development ought to be areas he’s pushing for improvement on if he’s not he’s missed the point

If it's all list, how does this list beat Geelong, smash Richmond by 80 the following week, then go to Adelaide and beat Port the week after?

How does this list finish last season the way they did?

I think that’s obvious - the list is on most weeks at the younger end ….youre gonna get games where they play out of their skins and others where they’ll try (like first half Thursday) but just struggle especially against more talented and mature opponents but hey dont take my word for it …get along to the ground occasionally and see for yourself!
Lyon and coaching don’t get a free pass but I’m more of the view our issues at the moment are more on the ability to execute consistently and I think that’s more personnel related as opposed to system

I’d suggest there is zero chance our players are doing any less than the AFL average. I also don’t know where the rumour that Ross was bragging about it. If anything you’ve heard him complain that players due to the AFLPA are not training more. He has praised our ‘player satisfaction survey.’

It’s not a rumor, he brought it up in multiple press conferences earlier in the year
