Our taggers are the key. O’Connor on Newcombe and Mullins on maybe the wizard. Of O’Connor can quieter Newcombe down, then the Hawks lose a lot of their drive.
Absolutely not. If we have learnt one thing this season, Mullin gets torched when man marking a forward or a fwd/mid.

Mullin to Newcombe and O'Connor to Ginnivan or Weddle would be my pick.

But if we put Mullin in the d50 his opponent will torch him.

Need to avoid their fast starts. They've done it in both finals and we have been prone to suffering from one in the past. We were sharp at the start of the QF, so I'm confident we won't be slow out of the blocks on Friday. Make them scoreboard chase and take risks, because you know we'll be sweating on the turnover, and once we get it, we are ruthless on the rebound.
We used to be really slow to build into a post-bye game in years gone by too though that has tightened up a lot

And Newcombe is the one where if Mullin does get pulled forward then Newk would be equally ineffective. MOC Weddle is what is like to see but that does leave Moore roaming with Dempsey playing very loose

Thing is they have been reeled in every single time.
They jumped Brisbane 3.3 to 0.8 at the Gabba in the last Rd of the season, scores were 6.5 to 6.10 at HT and Brisbane lead til the end of the game.
They got a massive jump on GWS, leading 7.2 to 3.2 at 1/4 time, 11.3 to 6.5 at HT and then only lead by 6 points at 3/4 and GWS were level early in the last before injuries caught upto them.
And against a poor crom team they were 3 goals to 2 kicks in the 1st but only went in 8 points up at 1/4 time.

Wouldn't shock me if they scored the first two goals, and then we score the next 5.

11 goals for the year, but he does have a goal in each final so he does drift forward. That said I don't remember his goals so they could be i50 stoppage goals, or maybe a running shot from outside 50m.

But I would hope that if Mullin is tagging Newcombe so badly they have to push him forward, then we can just shift Mullin to the next best mid which will likely be either Ward, Nash or Worpel and the defense or O'Connor can sort Newcombe out.

But I doubt they push Newcombe deep forward to shake a tag its just not his go to.

His goal against gws was a 50m penalty he got at half back, the one against the crows was an uncontested mark he picked up running into forward 50 from the midfield. Wasn't playing as a forward in either case.

Then sick Mullin on him for the whole game.

When he is best on, Hawks win.

Ling was the orange blanket on here back in the day, Mullin can be the green, white and orange blanket.

I heard today that Holmes has had a leg amputed, Smith will be suspended and Cameron got a knock to the calf and is doubtful.

Seriously, we'll win easy.

It'll be closer if their sixtet of head duckers suck the umpires in.

Excuse the intrusion, my mob has our own huge assignment with the Brizzie Bears, tho I am quietly confident. ON behalf of all Magpies fans, can you guys give Hollywood Jack Ginnivan, the arrogant one, a well aimed kick uz his cocky arse. ? Thankyou. Goodluck.
You won't be there.

A big challenge vs Hawks is trying to break their off the ball wrestles and tackles after the contest, which they use to delay flow of play on their opposition. They only ever seem to do it when the other team has the ball. They have a skillset that allows it not to look like holding the man.

It's a dirty tactic, for sure....but we are talking about the Hawks, the team that invented tackling before possession to look like pressure, shepherding or bumping the man on the mark before the kick, the throw that looks like a handball and the throw that looks like a tap on. If the Hawks win the flag (very good chance), watch them change the rules next year to stop wresting and holding the man off the ball.

If we lose and you win, may fire from the heavens pour down upon Ginnivan and may your side bury them in a GF embarrassment that destroys their arrogance for decades to come.

Seems like the Hawks have mounting injury concerns. Ginnivan and Gunston with soft tissues, and Breust won't be coming back with his obliterated knee.

Obviously nobody hopes for injuries, but this may accentuate our good bill of health.

Now I just need confirmation on Cameron's calf... Hoping that was just a false alarm...

It should be a bannable offence to drop information like that and then leave.

The umpires are an inconsistent lot, and the hawks get away with a bit.

Last night we saw:
  • Ginnivan continuously be a pest, and receive warning after warning but no penalty
  • in the first quarter chol shoved a crow with two hands in the back in front of 3 umpires and nothing was paid
  • Moore dropped a mark yet it was paid
  • hawthorn player handed the ball to a fellow hawk not to the ump and was not disciplined unlike our game
  • Ginnivan threw the ball at a Crow after a ball up was called, ala Baz, and nothing done

The AFL is just a game of inconsistencies
Nah, they follow the Prime Directive

We will see it ourselves this Friday. Put your TV remote in an unreachable place if watching at home!!!!

Bizarrely, as a collective,Collingwood supporters have been wetting their pants at the prospect of facing us. Their weekly meltdowns have been great reading. I reckon you guys will get over us. If so, beat them like a red headed step child if they manage to make the GF.

100% key is tagging their key movers (regardless of who goes to which one) - plus really high intensity / pressure from the whole team like we did against Lions should knock them over...

Moore, Watson, ginnivan - Bews will play this week.

Like we did in the QF, Scott will pick a “horses for courses” team - that is why Clark was sub against Brisbanes midfield depth - he will want to counter hawks small forwards.

Bews will play.

Did Dwayne Russell actually come out and say Bailey should be suspended and make a formal verbal apology?

Why are we turning into such a weak society? This is wild

Yeah, it's getting silly now.

Scott and Smith have both apologised to the women concerned, and as long as those apologies have been accepted that's where the story should end.

There is more about the Scott ‘incident’ on the rumours board and as expected it is a storm in a teacup and not worthy of media coverage.
